OK, whats the deal!

What do you guys know about pull-thru and blow-thru MAF setups? Pros and cons? Why do pull-thrus "Suck"

Start a new topic on it please. My topics never get more than a couple of replies.

LOL

i have a handful of bits and pieces that i'm welding up for bob, that's all. Just wondering if he's trying to hurry me up

although, his setup does some "interesting" things with the pull through. Care to explain bob?

Well, my suck-thru system drives ok under most circumstances. The issue is dropping the throttle
after the turbo spins up a little. all that compressed volume of air stored up in the intercooler and piping has to go somewhere.... so is goes out thru the turbo :fluttering noise: and the MAF. These new-fangled GM MAF's read air **BETTER** in reverse so the result is a large rich spike. At lower vehicle speeds the engine flames out. I have learned to drive with it but it still frustrates me. My wife has stalled it in traffic several times (you guys know the look....).

Blow thru is the answer. no more rich spike when dumping the throttle. I also have a turbo talon blow-off valve for Harlan to weld next (I have the flange...)

Some may say to use a blow-off valve, but on a MAF setup you would have driveability issues if venting it to atmosphere, and piping it back into the MAF plumbing does not eliminate the rich spike (although it may shorten it)

Harlan: not really a prod, but I have a couple of LP31's I'll swap you for some sparks.

draw through vortech here.
10psi and no reversion problem on throttle close at high boost.
If the blow off valve loops from the pressure side to the suction side after the maf there are 0 problems.
Now I also ran this exact system with 15psi on a vr4 blown 5.0 and had no reversion problems but used a race blow off valve to handle the higher cfm.

I suppose a bypass valve plumbed back before the turbo would help, there would still be a rich spike, but it would be very short and probably not kill the motor.

You running a cooler?

Also, I don't think the ford MAF's sense reverse airflow like ours....

Yaayyyy! Chris!

Sorry for the cheerleading, ya'll... Chris is one of the LS1 Forced Induction pioneers to me. He's one of the first guys I saw getting bombarded with questions about making Supercharging work!

You guys not running Turbos... let us know if you have headers! That's good to know since it impacts performance dramatically!

I use no intercooler of any sort.
I use a custom water/alcohol system I made which totally keeps detonation away and also cools boost charge temps around 100 degrees.

Just as a note, SI for stock internals also looks like SI for stoker intake. Maybe want different abbreviations?

Cemo, why don't you consider starting a list for N2O guys? That should be interesting.

If you have N2O and Forced Induction, you'd make this list... but, N20 alone is not "Boosted", that's the "bottle".

I bet a LOT of N20 guys make it worthwhile setting up a "Bottled List". The are running some quick times out there.

Ha ha! I roger that!

A Twin Turbo setup is plenty macho!

If they were truly available, there was an even chance I'd have one. I don't know... my ATI SC is big FUN!
