Exclamation ATTENTION: Hurricane Rita & LS1TECH

Good afternoon everyone, I hope everyone gets to read this message.

LS1TECH servers are located in Houston, TX. We are setting up a temporary host for LS1TECH that is outside of the hurricane Rita path, just in case the entire city loses power. Be prepared for some potential outages resulting from this storm that is supposed to hit Friday evening.

Just wanted to inform you, in case the site goes down periodically.

Tony

Right Now its a cat 5. I have family and we all have freinds down there... Texas has been moving people out of Galveston now for a while and will do so until tomorrow..
The Storms path is going to effect all of Texas pretty much and everyones gas prices are about to go up again for awhile.. Anyone in Houston and surrounding areas stay safe.

Damnit Tiago. GOd damnit. I told you'd I'd fly down and drive a car up. CP might be comming up here. 175+ winds now, this storm isn't one to mess around with. It turned more towards Galveston too.

I think the servers are the least of worries now. I hope everyone stays safe and there is no insane loss of life like in New Orleans.

Tony: Your datacenter doesn't have backup generators? That was one of my most important requirements when looking for a colocation source for my business.

Wish us luck. My family is leaving League City tonight. I'm in College Station for school, but we're even going to be hit pretty hard up here. It's gonna be a long weekend.

I lived in Houston for 8 years, and still have some good friends there. I spoke to 2 of them yesterday. They said the stores are bought out, and gas was already getting hard to find. They have a lake house northeast of Houston that they are going to ride the storm out in. The only good thing about Katrina is people are evacuating, instead of riding it out. Don't fool with this storm guys, get out of there.

I work for FEMA trust me on this one. If you're within 150 miles of the storm, get out!

175 mph sustained winds means there's gusts over 200 mph. This one is STRONGER than Katrina.
Don't be a cowboy and try to ride it out.

To give you an idea how powerful a storm this is, a CAT 1 hurricance is enough to lift and put down big trees and power lines. Learn from Katrina and take your protective measures.

Our datacenter has full turbodiesel generator backups in addition to a full battery field. They store 15,000 gallons of diesel on-site, and have guaranteed delivery contracts for more fuel at regular intervals for today, tomorrow, and the upcoming days as necessary. The datacenter is also located only two miles from the fuel terminal in Houston. The building itself is a carrier grade facility, hardened for Category 4 storms.

We're simply putting in a contingency plan should the data infrastructure break down in Houston. We'll have the option to switch over to an alternate as quickly as possible. Just minimizing our risk.
