9:1 compression - what pistons to use?
His motor is fine right now he just wants to put in lower compression pistons - what all should he consider? He wants to run about 10 psi or so of Vortech aftercooled boost.
He's got the fuel system covered, does he need new rods too?

rob raymer www.ls1motorsports.com has a package for a 1000 bucks, it comes with ross custom pistons pressed on to stock rods, rings, ARP bolts, all ya need to do is give back the stock rods as a core, its a sweet deal.

Sounds like a decent deal, but I wonder what sort of boost level it will hold up to? What are the stock rods good for?

John, this is a direct quote from my response to the email I received from you:
"It's not how much boost they will take, but rather how much detonation they won't take. The stock rods can handle roughly 700fwhp, and even more with the ARP bolts installed."
As you've all heard a million times by now, detonation kills. No matter which rod/piston combination you have.
These particular Ross pistons have 2 valve reliefs, and will lower compression to approximately 9.8:1. Though we can have them built to any desired compression ratio.
Hope that helps,
