I think we have a different ballgame for stick and auto cars. The way the power comes on is totally different. And no 2 converters come on exactly the same. And everyone with an ATI kit cut down different hoses to different lenghts...

I think for the most part there won't be any hard and fast guidelines.. just a lot of experimentaion. Untill someone figures out exactly what is going on and why, that is. <img src="gr_stretch.gif" border="0">

There are just too many variables. A physics major! A physics major! Is there a fizzicks major in the house?

OK... I got to do several runs from 50 to 80 on dry pavement on the way home.

Graphically, this is what I observed:

Where before I saw 8 PSI immediately, rising toward 10, now I see a more linear rise to about 9.5, nearly 10. It looks to be only slightly lower, but it does not build quite as quickly from it's base amount, which is about 1 or 1.5 PSI less to start.

Not quite what I expected. Also, my engine temp by the guage is DEFINITELY a little lower than normal. It's touching my 160 line where it is normally almost between the 160 and about halfway to the second mark. hmmm. At idle, it's nearly the same. It did not heat up after several runs as much. It is 34 degrees here, but I've run it in freezing weather before today without the temperature drop I see. I won't consider this conclusive, though. It's to easy to make assumtions on one set of observations.

So... it appears, at first glance, the venturi restrictor, at this diameter, is not limiting peak boost, but reducing the time of higher boost levels, if you see what I mean.

Strange.

I still think placing it in different places will have difernt effects. Maybe not noticible though..
