Default Procharger question for 120k mile ls1

A buddy of mine is looking to sell his d1 which he is only using l with low boost of 5#. I know d1's are made for higher boost, but would it be safe to use the low boost on my 120k motor until I have enough money for a forged motor to really use the blower at over 10#? Yes I searched

I see no problems.. Bob has many miles on their test car with a D1sc..

Your rings are a little more worn, and this is where to be careful...

Make sure your tune and fuel is good...

I would start out with a little more moderate boost 8psi, then step up from there.. Going from a NA car to 10psi of boost, is a huge jump..

Good luck.

Go ahead and install it, you shouldn't have any problems. 6 to 8 pounds of boost with a good tune won't hurt it provided you don't stand on it continuously from every stoplight you can find. Bob

should be fine. on a 120 k engine your rings might be weak and you might get a little blowby but since you dont have funds to get a forged motor I'd keep it conservative at maybe 7-8 lbs max. That'll be plenty of power for ya until you get forged motor.

I'd rather play it conservative and lose 30 hp and have that engine lasts than push it on the edge (10 lbs) and let go and then your stuck without a car.
