Default Torco Accelerator - Who's Used It?

I have seen a few people mention Torco Racing fuels . . . does anybody have any proof that this stuff works? I'm specifically talking about their 'Unleaded Accelerator'. They say that 'when blended with a 93 octane super unleaded makes up to a 104 octane race fuel'. I have emailed them asking for more information . . . I just want to know if the stuff really works or not. Any help is appreciated!!

Here is their webpage: http://www.torcoracefuels.com/ACCEL%201.htm

One can ($12.50) will treat a tank of gas I was told.

I was looking at it and I plan to use it this summer since it's a PITA for me to get race gas and THEN drive to the track. Plus race gas in the 5 gal cans is $5/gallon... WOW.

Guy told me that 1/2 a can would make 1/2 a tank of gas (8 gallons) into 98 octane. If it costs me $6 to do that I am very happy.

Torco is not just an "octane booster". It is a Race Fuel concentrate.
1/2 can in 10 gals takes you to 104, a whole can takes you to 107 (from 93).

$10.95 per bottle.

It definitely works:
When my PSI was 12, after my race gas gave out (after a test-n-tune night of racing) and I filled up with 93, it detonated every time I WOT it. I put a can of TORCO in a full tank, drove about 5 miles, and punched it. No more detonation.

Now, at 10 PSI, every time I get some gas that makes me detonate, I pour about a half can in, and the pinging goes away.

It works.

The only downside is some residue on your spark plug, but I couldn't tell a degradation in performance between plug changes.

I use the Unleaded Accelerator.

I figured 107 Octane (93 + TORCO) was abut half the price as comparable race fuel at the track.

$13.00 for 93 + 1/2 can Torco ($5.00) = (104 octane) for $18.00
It costs me $35.00 to fill up with BP 100 Octane.

I'd say that's considerably more cost effective!

I double-checked the bottle:

(1 can is 32 oz)

20 gal 93 + 32 oz TORCO = 97

10 gal 93 + 32 oz TORCO = 104

5 gal 93 + 32 oz TORCO = 107

I'm not a big fan of the unleaded race concentrate. Worth MAYBE 2-3 points even in their race mix, where they claim 11 points. On my Lightning and to their calculations I should have had 102 octane. With 100 octane unleaded race gas I could run 20 psi and 20 degrees of timing. With the Torco and what should have been 102 octane it detonated bad on 14 degrees of timing. I tried several different mixes, called them a couple times, went through 8 GALLONS total when testing. It never worked as advertised for me.

I am better off with alky injection and no Torco; I can run 16 degrees on 20 psi that way and that's with straight 91 octane. Plus it's MUCH less expensive with the alky.

Count me not impressed.

i mixed it for 107 octane and it made 98 octane but the lab that tested informed me that the torco has to be mixed in the dark and sampled in amber bottles. I left mine in the kitchen in a clear bottle over nite and that might have lowered the octane or the pump gas 93 octane might have been slightly lower than 93.

I'd sure like to know how you guys made the stuff work. It was worthless in my truck.

Not like I only tried it once, I started with 6 quarts, then re-ordered a 5 gallon jug, then later 6 more quarts. I kept trying it hoping for a different result because everyone said it works. My opinion..... don't waste your money, at least on the UNLEADED version. The leaded version is supposed to be very good.

I have sold the Torco Accelerator for several years. We use it on the dyno with some of our applications, and I also have never had a customer tell me it didn't work. Our '95 Formula ATI ProCharger equipped picked up from 115.5 to 118 mph with it with no other changes, consistantly on several tracks. We were quite surprised as we could never detect any spark knock... Bob
