Detonation?
Detonation after all is the premeture ingniting of the air fuel mixture. What causes this is enough heat is generated that when the spark plug fires the mixture is so hot that it burns VERY quickly. It burns so quickly that before the piston has reached the point of rotating the motor forward it fires. This causes that cylinder to try to push the motor backwards thus hammering your poor rotating assembly.
At least that's my attempt at a simple answer.
This is a dangerous condition. Increasing octane and pulling timing out of the computer is what you probably need to do. Also make sure you're running a colder plug. Plugs can retain heat from the last firing and if it's not made to run cooler it will cause a pre-ignition condition. This is where the plug is basically red hot and will ignite the A/F mix when it get compressed by the compression stroke.

I am running the most octane we have here in Ca. 91 only. Which sucks. My timing seems is where it always was before right around 17 degrees? I do have NKK TR-6 in my car right now. I don't know of a colder plug.
What HP do you think your making. What injectors do you have. What tuning do you have. Sounds like an interesting problem.
The only other thing that I can think of is fuel. What do your O2's look like on a wideband on the dyno. You could be running this thing lean potentially.

Last I dynoed I only got just over 400RWHP. I think I should be higher than that. I have the injectors that came with the kit. I think they are 38lb.
I took out the Ed Wright tuned PCM and put back my stock w/superchips tuning. I can't see how that might be the problem cause I have had Ed's tuning for about 3 weeks w/no problem?? Quite a mystery????
Thanks

I'd go down to 12.2:1 and do a decarb on the engine.

Are you talking about compression at 12.2:1. Hows that possible when I have 10.1:1 or whatever the stock engine? So, I don't know what you mean? Also what does decarb mean? I have heard that a few times before. What is the GM top end cleaner? Some type of fuel additive?
Thanks
