I just crawled out from under my car. Taking stock of things after a day of lapping at Homestead Speedway.

I've got enough oil sitting in the driver's side intercooler to start my next engine oil change. I guess running 8lbs of boost for four hours was a little hard on the engine.

I'm spending today cleaning up and trying to figure out how to releave crankcase pressure so I don't continue to get this.

Any GOOD ideas.

My car is in about a million pieces <img border="0" title="" alt="[Sad]" src="gr_sad.gif" />

Mid-stream on project "Evil Twin" <img border="0" alt="[devil]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_devil.gif" />

Rods and pistons finally arrived yesterday. block, crank, rods, and pistons go to the machine shop asap. bore hone, cam bearings, and rotating assembly balance.

Heads are still at the porter. Rumor has it they are way hogged out, and should flow big numbers. Waiting on exhaust valves from my understanding.

Trans is about ready to ship off to D&D for a go through.

waiting for dry sump scavenge assembly to arrive.

waiting for oil cooler t-stat to arrive so i can mock up the system and order the heat-exchanger.

Fuel system goes in this weekend.

test fit of 2 core radiator to get dimensions on the front mount. Right now it looks like 4.5x26x11 <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

Turbos are at Limit Engineering getting "worked on" <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

pheeewwww <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

that's alot of **** going on.

I'll be having plenty of fun in about a month <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

1. get old motor out of car (broke ARE h/c)
2. get new motor in car (2 weeks)
9.0 compression forged pistons, aftermarket rods, "super duper" gaskets, arp head studs and rod bolts, street ported heads, mild fi cam, etc etc. longblock from ARE
3. install gen 2 spec clutch
4. get injectors 42-50#
5. get ls1 edit and learn how to use it
6. install my new fi toy <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" /> at about 10 psi

completed: june...ish?

goal: 600rwhp on pump gas and a 10 on drag radials with full interior and no serious weight removed.

I'm having a few issues with my ATI kit. I visited the track and the trap speed was not satisfactory. I have a few mysteries I'm trying to solve, a few things I need to try, though alot of the low trap speed I'm sure had to do with me being scared to slam 4th (killer over rev last season... not willing to do that again).

If you are interested in chiming in though, I have a pair of posts in the programming section of the site if you want to hear the story.

Right now I'm waiting to hear from GWP, I've decided to hear them out first, being they are praised for the customer service all the time. I can provide an autotap log and timeslip too if someone will teach me how to arrange the log in neat columns.

<img border="0" title="" alt="[Sad]" src="gr_sad.gif" /> I'm still waiting for ARE to tell me WHEN i might get 2 replacement pistons for the damaged ones I received last week. Then its off to the machine shop and will be running hopefully within 2-3 weeks of receiveing my pistons. I hope to run a 10.99 eventually in the summer heat. Probably not but who knows.

Mines is running but has a weeping head gasket. Being replaced this Saturday.

~500RWHP so far with bad tuning. Off the fat scale on the dyno. Less than 10:1 A/F ratio. The only other problems are the leaking scavange pump oil lines. I think I need to replace all of my connectors. Too much tightening and loosening sessions I think.

I pulled mine apart again. I got real cheap on my rebuild and did not replace my valve stem seals and I have 2 of them passing oil with the high vacuum pulled by a stock cam and gapless rings combo.
Stupid move on my part to try and save 20$.
My setup is a stock bottom end with TS1 gapless rings, arp rod bolts and good bearings.
Hogged out heads and stock cam advanced 3 degrees.
42.5 lb injectors, modified rails with aeromotive regulator and the big pump(which still needs to go on)
Vortech Non intercooled system with heavy duty G-trim treated to a little porting work and run at max efficient speed.
Crank Pulley keyed to ATI damper
mac headers and 3" Y-pipe into 4" Mufflex.
4 nozzle water/alcohol injection system
I estimate 550 RWHP non locked up by 6000rpm with 10psi.
2.73 gears and a 2800 PI.

LOL...looks like I am in the same boat as everyone else!

While waiting to get my turbos back I installed ARE Stage 2 heads, LS6 Intake, a new oil pump, and a turbo cam.

I'm actually going to run the car at the track on Friday if I get my WB setup and can get it tuned. I put stock manifolds back on the car to get it running.

Hell, I may even race it in an event on Sunday if I am happy with the numbers that I get on Friday.

Before the turbos go back on I am going to put in a custom fuel system, propane injection, and finish wiring up a spray system for the intercoolers...Looks like I am chasing Harlan for the hp on stock shortblock title with FI <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />

Damn, seems to me that all the FI cars are constantly broken. Hmmmm, j/k <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />

I am looking foward to hearing from you guys in the future on your progress. I am pondering the idea of a FI LS1 when I do my 92 Z28 LS1 hybrid motor next year <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" /> .

98 formula
Powerdyne with 6# pulley
36# injectors / inline pump
Mac headers
Computer tuned by me :-) (ls1-edit)

dyno'ing this friday to dial in a/f

then comes water/alky injection and I crank up the timing

then heads/cam/ls6 intake <img border="0" alt="[Fluffy]" title="" src="graemlins/fluffy.gif" />

then probably soon after comes new clutch <img border="0" title="" alt="[Sad]" src="gr_sad.gif" />

SJH...not being stupid trying to save money. Now we know what happens with stock cam and gapless rings...better have good valve seals. Why did you choose to advance the stock cam 3 degrees?

It seems like we are piecing stuff together.. I might want to keep my boost down to 10psi with everyone having these issues.. Basically here are my plans.. My shortblock is being built as we speak.. Forged internals and balanced and blueprinted.. Going with 6.0L heads and have the compression between 9.1:1 and 9.5:1.. Changing to a blower cam as well. I am going to run NA for a little while to give me time to save up for the goodies. I am also getting a 12 bolt in the meantime with 3.73's..

My 12-bolt has been shipped and my 427 is being built by Golden West Performance.

Until I get the 12-bolt in, I'm stuck to no WOT runs. I hope the motor is done by the time I put the 12-bolt in.

Then I will be flyin' high! <img border="0" alt="[Fluffy]" title="" src="graemlins/fluffy.gif" />
