Default BEWARE ATI WITH FMU! ATI CUST service blows!

to make a long story short, my fmu has gone bad after having my charger only 2 months. After talking to ati's tech, he was supposed to call me back in an hour, it's BEEN LIKE 3 hours!
I hate to see my phone bill, they had me on hold over 40 minutes one call, over 20 another.

I decided no more friendly approach, just called and told them about their $5000 hunk of **** having my daily driver down. IF YOUR THINKING OF BUYING THE ATI BASE KIT DON'T DO IT! BUY THE GWP STAGE 2!!!!!!!!!!

ATI will have no fmu but come with injectors and programming with their base kits in a month. GEE THANKS for setting us who bought the early kits up with a hunk of **** fmu!

the 1st time I talked to the tech he said they want me to pay for the FMU AND THEY WILL CREDIT my card when they get mine, or they will rebuild mine which will take 3 days!!! well my cards are all maxxed(see signature haha)

From the beginning I have regretted this supercharger, NO WAY the power output as it was SUPPOSED to have, nor the boost (regardless of free flowing exhaust)

my car has gone from something I love and enjoy to really pissing me off. ONCE AGAIN BUY FROM GWP **** ATI! I wish I took everyone's advice about just doing the gwp stage 2.

even If they get me another fmu I fear it will junk out soon too!

took the day off work to get this under control and ati isn't very good at all in the customer service dept!

ati's customer service blows more than their chargers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

you post this in 2 hours of not getting a call? I'm sure you can work something out with them.

Terry, it does seem true that when you are trying to get a problem worked out, time slows to a crawl and results don't come fast enough.

I know you are frustrated... keep in mind when talking with people that they help a lot better when you are persistent but reasonable sounding. It's just human nature to put up barriers when you feel attacked.

Since they are doing the programming thing now, if you are wary of the FMU going out again, see what they'd charge you to keep the FMU and send you the programming and whatever else it is they do differently with the base kit now.

It might work better for you.

Maybe you can downgrade to a tuner kit and they keep your FMU stuff. Then your GWP expenditure would not be as bad.

Just throwing out some ideas...

I wish I could get everyone contemplating this supercharger who things they'll want more than the base components to go with GWP Stage II.

Just the customer service and knowledge level alone makes the upgrade valuable.

Since you didn't get larger injectors, all you should have to do is take the pulley belt off and drive it like that, right?

I drove mine like that when I had to get the crank bolt torqued down again. It was pig rich because I had big injectors and the SC programming, but it drove.

I'd think yours should be fine. I don't know what you'd have to do witht he FMU related connections sinc I've never dealt with that.

There customer service blows more than their charger, lol at that one, that was clever . Anyway sorry to hear about your troubles. Hey for what its worth many of us have pissed away countless thousands of dollars in search of speed. I chock up some of my ill fated endeavors up to a "learning experience", although I cannot always convince myself of its utility. Anyway without members here sharing their real world comments and experience, vendors would have us wholehearted dupped into believing the flawlessness of their products. In thier defense cars are f-ing fickle, especially the faster you go. Hope everything works out.
Regards,

Damnit Terry, get off the phone with them. Now I know why I couldn't get ahold of them today.

If someone tells me they'll call me back I never expect a call. I always call them back. Gotta keep them on there toes.(Free long distance on my cell helps too. )

Good luck. I hope you get everything worked out.

One more thing.

Have you Atapped your car? (MAF rate in particular)

I took the blower off today until I can get a new idler pulley. The current one has a nice groove wore in it. I atapped without the blower on and the MAF rate is lower by about 13#/min. That translates to around 130 flywheel HP. Its very hard to feel the increase because of how smooth the power comes on but, it does seem to be there. Believe me, I felt the same way as you do about the power with 4psi but, the numbers don't lie. The car is definately not the same without the blower.

Again, Good luck

John

UPDATE!

my car rocks!!!

after many hours on the phone back and forth with ati, they SAID IT WAS my stock fuel pump, I argued no it's not, then gave up on ati.

after remembering how polite JASON AT GWP is I gave him a call to see his insight, ( I WILL BE GETTING THE STAGE 2 GWP SOON HOPEFULLY)
he said it's not my stock fuel pump. I must say that he has the BEST customer service I
have ever seen! And I didn't buy my charger from him!

well I went back out to finish the weight reduction on the car, put it up on ramps, removing e brake lines under the car>> THEN>>>

****CRIMP in fuel line to ati pump!*******

looked up and noticed a crimp in the bend of the fuel hose going to my ati fuel pump! I bent out the crimp and my wife started the car, FUEL PRESSURE higher than EVER 62-68psi!

****now boost is much more fun! and fuel pressure REALLY spikes up all the way to around 98PSI!!!

did I mention ati's service still blows? they don't call back when supposed to, and are basically clueless.

xlr, sorry for keeping ati's lines busy all day! haha

Thumbs up!

You must have called the GWP/Jason I talk to in MY dimension! (Sorry guys... couldn't resist. )

Anyway, it's great to have found something simple. That's not a slam on ATI... I'm sure they would have never assumed you had a crimped line. But Jason is VERY knowledgeable and has a lot of practical experience with actual cars and blower kits.

Let us know what kind of times and numbers you put down!

May the Procharger be with you.

black ls1,

yes Jason is a great guy, knows his stuff!

I still am not impressed with ati's hold time on calls and lack of knowledge of THEIR systems.

I am much calmer today. haha
