Default Anyone run Heads Cam and Forced Induction?

I should have my LS1 soon and I already have a set of heads avaliable with the porting and valve work completed.I want to use them with a nice cam,and also run a decent SC.This will be on a 02 so I will already have the LS6 intake.Anybody already do this? Are there any cons?

Hey thanks I'll talk to em'. The heads I'm getting aren't milled so I should be good.Is 9 psi to much for the stock compression engine?

I have heads and cam and Forced Induction. I got ~500RWHP with 6PSI. And that's with a very fat setup. My O2's were below 10:1 (off the scale).

Have to re-dyno now that I have my LS1edit program in there. Unfortunately I haven't had time to put it on the dyno and tune it with the W/B.

Dayum That's what I wanted to hear. Are you turbo'd or SC?What kit are you running? Also how bad is driveability with that kind of power? As in cooling, smoothe idle, hwy driving..I'd like to hear your combo unless it's secret.

550 rwhp on 7 psi, heads and cam extremely rich.

but thats not the best part, you get to lay on your back and replace clutches, a fine melody of 10 bolt whine and clunks, blown head gaskets, and a pcm with a mind of its own after multiple tunes.

no decent track times yet due to frustration and sore knuckles. I need to just drive the car and enjoy it for a while.

tuning is a bitch havn't been to the dyno yet but at 55 in 3rd gear if you nail it nothing but tire smoke btw I am running 295/35/18 on 11" wheels no traction at all. I think you can spin the tires at 70-80

this is great, i neeeeeed more info!! pleeze!

lets say your car runs fine on 92octane at 6psi, then you do heads, then you pully back up to 6psi, is your car still going to run fine on 92?

do you have to pully back up? lets say you have 400hp at 6psi, then you do heads and now have 4psi, will you get the 50 or so hp that heads usualy give you without pulling back up? what about if you do pully back up?

i have a ton of questions but i will wait and see if anyone is willing to give these a try

Iam going to be running the same setup your trying to build. It should be a GREAT COMBO but you have to make sure you do it correctly. I had my heads specialy ported for the FI setup. You have to make sure that the heads you have are not milled. The key to FI is to lower you compression. If you compression is too high and you put a blower in you will cause detonation and you will destroy your motor. Talk to Kenny or Jason atGolden West Performance and they will be able to get you going fast.

I'm Turbocharged. Twin Mitsubishi Turbos. The system is a one off. It's being developed into a kit but some major changes had to be done to add some ground clearance and remove the need for a scavange pump.

Oh someone asked about drivability. On street tires I cannot drive in the rain. My boost comes on at VERY low RPM. It causes me to spin the tires way too easy. On dry pavement the drivability is perfect. Put some stickier tires on it and it's a lot of fun.

I also have a front mounted intercooler. Pretty big with good cores. It also has a fin design the allows flow through so it doesn't block the radiator. Very important for street driving.

Saw you website that's a sweet car from the description. I'm hoping to get something more designed for the LS1 cause I just don't want to do all the fabbing and things.I don't want a system that needs alot of tuning, and daily driveabitlity is a must.I'm hoping ro get 11's out of the heads ,cam, exhaust, gears, and stall.Which I think is easily optainable and some high tens with a decent SC or Turbo system. But from what I've seen the turbo system is going to be costly. Thanks for the responses
