high boost top end miss?
#101
got to hit the track, top end miss is definatly gone. i hit it with about 19.5psi and a 100shot. the head gasket let go up top but it was runing hard and sounding good.
changes were spark dwell up to about 6ms up top and ar94 plugs gaped at .028 or whatever it was they came at.

i haven't pulled the heads yet but it still runs so i am hopeing it is just the gasket. the gasket completely blew out. it is making a loud pft pft sound. i am guessing the flames were the fuel spraying out of the cylinder and igniteing. i didn't hear any pops, it just got loud.
i am running cometics, arp head studs and afr225 heads. strait 114 leaded fuel with the meth left on. a/f ratio was around 11.7-12.2 the entire run. timing at 14deg max. the logger showed a 1.8deg kr hit about the time the gasket blew out and another little bit of kr right at the very end of the run. i was shooting for 12.0max on my a/f but ended up a little higher than that.
my next trip down the track i am going to dial in 11.5/1af max and i will be running some of those titan copper gaskets. not sure what else to try.
better traction would be nice. i am running 4 305/45/18 nittos and warming the rear. presure is down around 15 in the rear and 18 in the front. the truck was hauling *** on that run. first ever 110 in the 1/8 and at the 1000mark i was online to run better than my 10.08 previous best but the power fell off before the end of the run.

I was curious because my truck spins the left front hard first, then picks up the right rear. i don't have any posi traction diff's and still use the factory viscous center coupler. I need to try at least one posi in the back, but I think it would still light the left front until the transfercase delivers more tq to the back. My truck with the goodyear tires turned poorly in snow last winter without the posi in back and it might get worse. Does your truck handle normal in snow?
On your a/f ratio. How much correction is allowed during a run? Is the MS adding or subtracting fuel at wot? Who makes the fuel you are running?

ms is not doing any fuel corection at wot. i have it targeting at cruse and idle but not at wot. the fuel brand is trackteck wich is a phillips brand.
i suppose i should try and get ahold of some c16 but that stuff is hard to come by around here. this isn't going to be a "normal" tune for me. i seem to be able to run mid 10's on pump(with meth) and that is where i am going to set it once/if i get this 9 out of the way.
next trip to the track will be in KC, i seem to hook at least .05 better there.

Right now there is no EGO correction running at WOT. We were editing the VE table by hand based on datalogging the FJO wideband...
in hindsight, we could have turned the EGO targeting on - but for Drag Week, we were using EGO correction at low loads to improve mileage, then just making sure the AFRs were more in check during the runs.

there is a slight depresion in the block, it isn't much and it might be in a place that doesn't matter or it might matter. i dont know. it is about 1/4" back from the combustion chamber and a long ways from any coolant areas. i am sure it would seal up and run fine for any stock or mild performace set up but probably not ideal if i want to push it again.

You said it was running ok like this?? Was it loud like a bad exhaust leak. If not, I wonder if that injector quit all together, cause the problem and then did not fire afterwards. Thus no horrible exhaust noise and super rich idle with a down cylinder. Sucks though!
