Default should the cats go

i have a procharger (4psi) and a bunch of other mods > my question is > would getting rid of my cats be good or bad. Now of course I would never drive the car on the street > because that would be against the law! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Confused]" src="images/icons/confused.gif" />

I's say that anything that gets rid of back pressure would be good!!!

Pull off the cats...

What else are you looking for? You got two for take'em off. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

Seriously though, I would take them off. Anything to help exhaust flow will benefit you. Plus, the cats may not last long if your running a little richer than a naturally aspirated engine to be on the safe side. The extra fuel will eventually kill the cats. <img border="0" alt="[guns]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_guns.gif" /> cats

You'll need O2 simulators to keep the computer from setting a code. The code won't cause any performance problems but, the SES light will start to get annoying. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

Relieving backpressure in a Forced Induction motor produces more power. You should expect to see gains, but may have to re-tune to get A/F the ratio optimized again.

I didn't like the raspy sound the exhuast gives without cats. It sounds like fart notes around 2500 to 2800 PRMs. <img border="0" alt="[Banging Head]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_banghead.gif" /> Perhaps the right resonator in place of the cats would make it sound good without reintroducing backpressure.

Yeah I dont like how mine sounds sometimes either. But starting the motor and WOT sound frickin cool! I have messed up tuning so I cant tell any power gains yet but I'm sure there is potential there. Cats are restrictive and extra wieght. Toss 'em.

WOULD THERE BE ANY LOSS OR GAIN TO THE BOOST WHEN REMOVING THE CATS? I'VE ONLY GOT 4PSI TO SPARE, AND I'D RATHER NOT GIVE UP BOOST IF I DONT HAVE TO.

Remember boost is just a measure of back pressure. Better exhuast or intake you loose boost but gain power. You can loose boost and still gain power as long as you dont go get into the surge line on the compressor.
