Default Phamspeed finally done!!!!

After six mos. I finally got the car done! Because the its a stock motor I wanted to keep it pretty mild and reliable, so I have at 5lbs, making 470hp 490lbs at the wheels on a 2lbs spring. I have some little issues that need to be resolved.

1. My downpipe is bottoms out ALOT. How much power would I lose if I flattened the DP a little? Did anyone else have this problem?

2. Since I had to move the alternator to the passenger side, the oil cap doesnt fit, I need to find a way to cover that whole somewhere. Where can I get the smallest cap possible to go straight into the valve cover? Any sugestions?

Besides that it sounds really wicked, and its a blast to drive, but I really cant get on it b/c it gets oil all over the place

PLease I need some more help!!!! And thanks to all the guys that answered when I posted a problem, I couldnt have finished w/o this forum.

I dont know about the oil cap. You should not lose any HP by flattening the DP, its still the same size.

just undo the one coil back swing it out of the way tighten down your oil cap swing it back over and tighten it down...

or get one of the valve cover breathers that screw right in there..

speed inc sells nice one that im using also will help vent pressure

I still use my stock oil fill cap BUT i have removed the neck that it attaches to. It is VERY tough to take off and put on but it is possible. And i dont wanna waste more money on sometign liek a new cap that wiull work jsut a little better.

As far as the DP goes you woudl have to do ALOT of flattening to make any sort of hieght difference. If you jsut flatten it about a hammers head width you would only get about a half inch outtta. it. Adn that aint gonan make a bit of difference. If you go and flatten it alot you will have a flow issue. Is your car lowered? If not then you should be ok. I dont have mine lowered and i have only hit it a hand full of times over the summer. GL man

Those are good numbers, I hope I can put down similar ones when I get mine finished. Do you have the phamspeed kit that came with headers or the budget kit?

I didn't bottem the DP to much, maybe twice. As for the oil cap I changed my whole alt. bracket so the Alternator sit closer to the throttle body and away from the oil cap.

for the dp go by some oval tubing that transitions to round on the ends. you can pick up alot of ground clearance that way. Look at a stock Y pipe for an example of what I am talking about.

I'm thinking your car is making more than 2 lb of boost You may want to hook up a gauge and see what boost you're really pushing.

He said he is running 5psi but is using a 2lb spring. My guess is he's using a boost controller.

no boost controller, I had 6lbs spring making 8.5 @ 4700 on the dyno and we shut it off, is just boosting a lot b/c off the cam Im guessing. so now I got the 2.9 lb making 5lbs. Anybody making more boost and power reliably on a gt42? I probably being too cautious.
but I think i fix the oil cap thing by getting the stock cap and putting it on a grinder and made it small and srewed in.
took the intake pipe apart and found some oil from the turbo oil line. Hopefully its left over from before, Ive added a scavenge pump and a line restrictor and that should be enough.

Those are really good numbers, congrats.
On a side note, is it just me or does phamspeeds website not work? It is www.phamspeed.com correct? Nothing ever comes up, unless there is another page or that's the wrong address.

If its getting hot in traffic and you have after market fans then theres a good chance you have you fans wired backwards.

As for your smoking problem
How do you have your oil return line setup?
Hows your PCV valve setup?
