Zombie... what and where is the best way to read the A/F ratio?

Thanks guys for the comments... I promise Pictures of the install (Billy and Texas Rear Turbos did great!) and I still owe the Dyno sheet... I had to fly to DC for work and I will be here all week. I will be back in TX early next week.

I love my setup and am very happy with the results... gonna make a run in two weeks with the additional mods I listed above. I love this LPE cam and I am going to see if I can get them to build me a block for a good price!!!

The majority of you guys seem to be from TX, as I am (Victoria), but I just moved to Hawaii and was curious if you know of any tuners for the rear-mount system on the island? Your results are great, longb4u. And I am seriously considering buying the STS system. Do you plan on doing anything to the bottom of the motor for strength as a result of the boost you are pushing into the motor?

Now that is impressive! I am assuming that you have not Dyno'd it yet? That is still very good regardless of dyno.. you are doing what I am with almost 4lbs less boost. What trim turbo?

The last time I dyno'd I had a slipping clutch and oil in the charge pipe. The car was pushing 385hp and 402tq at the wheels. The turbo is a T-67 and I'm boost creeping to 5.5psi. The track was fairly well preped as this is Gateway Internationals last week of racing. Since the last dyno I've gotten a SPEC 3 and rebuilt the turbo and added a BOV. The car runs like a bat out of hell unted boost. Oh and is an M6 with the 3.42s and a Auburn super 90 in the 10bolt. My E.T s N/A were 13.44 @ 105.2

I belive alot will change when I upgrade to the 67 Trim and the 2-Step. Sticky Tires will make a world of difference as well. I dont think it will be long (2 weeks) untill I am in the solid 11's. I am going to the race down at SAR.... that is a nice track in Nov.... should be great times.

I wanted to test the theory and you see the results. I will scan the dyno run and attach it on monday.

My boost climbs right to 9lbs and maintains a good A/F ratio of 12.3:1. I also know that my Track times were off due to high humidity, 150lbs of crap in the trunk (Still had the stock heads, cam, clutch, flywheel in car) and running on regular street tires. Give me two weeks and I will have another track run. A great install by Billy at Texas Rear Turbos and good tune by Sean at FASTECH

Other then that... I attribute it alot to the LP GT-7 Cam and LQ9 Heads... I talked to the guys at LP and this was the reccomended setup. Looks like it works well!
Congrats... but now your motor is seeing 100+ kpa and you didnt change your tune.. theres gotta be something on the table..efficiency wise and under the curve.

My A/F is 14.5 at Idle then drops to 11.1 under boost and i tink i'm only running around 14 degrees of timing. the only mods are a custom panhard bar and lower control arms and a pro 5.0 shifter. The rear end has a Auburn super 90. other then that the cars bone stock.

Well when I go and see Sean up at FASTECH next week with my new upgrades I am going to have him adjust my A/F to get me back into the 11's. I know that he told me that my original A/F was 11.6 I am not sure what may have caused it to slip.

Does anyone watch their boost pressure on the dyno run? When I had it on the Dyno last time I watched the Boost pressure.. it climed to 9 quick.. then as the RPM's climed into the Dyno run it slowly dropped to 5PSI........ is it supposed to do that?

Jared, it may drop due to a leak, or how the dyno is loaded. When we put the 67 in, we will go over the system and re-check everything.

Billy, Thanks man!! As always you take great care of me! Anyone in the Texas area would not go wrong by using TRT Turbo and Performance!! They have done great for me!! Soon I will have a 10 sec STS daily driver! Looking forward to helping silence the haters and doubters! I will post pictures of the install (As soon as Billy sends them to me) soon!

Thanks eveyone for the help and input! So the next step for me is to get the alloy crap out of my engine. I am looking for 625-725 at the rear wheels with a mild daily driver capable behavior. I am only afraid that I will end up wanting 750-850 once I meet my original goal. What do you think you can get to the ground in a TRUE Daily Driver capable car? When does it become more than is realistic to drive to work or to have to wait in traffic?

I have riden in this car and must say it was a pretty nice rush. Boost lag was unnoticeable as the car pulled very strong from the moment he punched it. The kit impressed me and if I had a f-body, it surely would be on my list of potential turbo kits.

By the way, this is the guy who sold the built talon to your buddy.

Not trying to be a dick in any kind of way.....I was really looking into the sts kit for when I get back from the desert. I keep seeing these high *** dyno numbers and crappy *** 1/4 mile times. What gives? i understand you guys arent hooking up. But 12.8,12.9 with that much power? What gives? I just ran 12.9 @ 109 with my bolt on CE on friday. And i ran consistent 12.5s @ 107 with my bolt on 98 auto 273 geared car. Really what gives? All that money for bolt on fbody times? It doesnt seem like many sts users are running impressive times at all.

what i dont get is, why are the track times so different compared to convention turbo setups? my buddy has a STS kit and isnt running close to what i (or he) would expect. my mph is close to the mph's mentioned in the thread, and i only have a baby cam and exhaust...

i am by no means calling you a liar, or anyone, b/c you all have badass rides...im just curious.

I think part of the problem is that most of the front mount setups are more than just a turbo bolted on. Not all of them, but most of them. My first time to the track at 8 psi the car ran 13.2!! I wasn't very happy. But, I kept tuning, and actually turned the boost down to 6 psi. I got as low as 12.2@116 at 6 psi, and the car still wasn't running right (around 10:1 afr). I really think the car had plenty left, and could have broken well into the 11's. These setups are still relatively new, and people are still figuring this out.

As some of the GTO's and at least one Vette that I know of, I hope to be putting down some serious track numbers really soon.
