1.6 on a 10.7@128.66 is traction, with that mph if it hooked your looking at 10.20's. The sheetmetal intake has not been proven to help any, they are considering going back to a LS6 intake. Also that many cubes yes but with 8.5-1 compression, notice I said 7-8psi on a 15psi sett up. THe Speed crew is trying new things to make the most power for forced applications. As for the tune, can you drive your car to the track 70 miles in rush hour trafic and run 10.7's just by letting air out of your Nitto's? Instead of bashing these guys why don't you complement them on trying new things, like making a custom fuel system, intake, ect.

No ABS or AC? Those times are hardly impressive at all. He spent well over 12 grand on the longblock and plenty more in the rest of the car...

I think thats pretty impressive, its still a really heavy car...when they get the tuning figured out and up the boost it will run 10.0's probably with its current weight, Imagine if they put some slicks/skinnies on it and then dropped 500 pounds... <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="gr_eek2.gif" />

this car is riddled with lots of "WHAT IFS"

sorry man.. that time and mph is not impressive at all for that kind of setup... if it had no FI then i could see it... my little 346 does 10.70's with just h/c and a 100 shot full weight.... im sure i can get into the nines if i upped the shot and dropped 500lbs... but those are "what ifs"

if you wanna talk the times... run the times...

dont sit here and bs about tires, weight, nos, and boost...

If you guys had sat in traffic behind the SOM car you would see how well it idles.

128mph on pump gas is pretty good.

I know the Speed crew is getting a cogged setup since the belts slip so much and they plan to run 15 lbs of boost and flat 10's on drag radials which I think they can pull off.

The tune is not way off. It is perfectly tuned for 93 octane and 8lbs of boost.

The original plan for the engine was to run 15-18lbs of boost. Since we are waiting for our cog pullies to be made we decided to take the car out and have some fun with it.

We just got the car on the road and the most miles it's ever seen was on the drive to the track. No we didn't break any records, but we thought what we ran was worth mentioning.

We are planning to try an LS6 intake with the current pulley setup to see if the sheetmetal intake is hurting or helping.

So I guess 10.7 @128 with a 414 8lbs of boost, 93 octane, 17in nittos, through the exhaust, and 3,600+ pounds is crawlin.

We'll have to see what it runs with the cog drive and a slick. If it doesn't run 9's I won't bore any of you with the results of our "slow" car.

Is that the same car(HPS)I saw in Pontiac High Performance? Not very impressive at all. They only ran 1/8th mile anyway. No flames intended, just an opinion. It seems funny to me that someone posts their times, good or bad, so that other people can see the progression of building a vehicle up. As for this...

Let's keep it nice.

FWIW, some of you folks realize that you cannot compare the two at all, the HPS car went super fast but I'm sure they would agree that it's just a matter of a few runs before the stock bottom end would lose a ringland just from cylinder pressure.

The SOM car, well, 128mph in a street car in street trim on pump gas is pretty darn good. I bet the car picks up with an LS6 intake but we'll see.

for the guy that said this. "It wont get away with 15 psi on 93 octane", yes it will, that's 15psi on 8.5:1 compression ratio, in fact I think you could run 18psi on 93 octane with tune. Then I recommend trying out 2x psi on 104 octane. Too bad it isn't a turbo car or this would be as easy as turning a **** and adding the fuel.

This is impressive by its potential. Going from 7 to 15 psi will result in more then 200 extra hp. Keep up the good work and don't listen to the haters.

Ok maybe I don't know jack about this stuff, I'm just a chick, but the way I look at it every car is different. The one thing I have learned in running my car is you can't expect the best all the time. This is the first time this car was ran at the track. I believe the car only got two runs in that night, not enough to learn the car and what it likes in my opinion. When you guys are comparing this car to other people's cars are you really looking at the whole picture? Someone said something about WHAT IFs, well everything is full of WHAT IFs right. There are lots of things to be considered. That is all I am going to say for now.
