Default Getting Traction with a S/C???

I'm going to be another lucky one going the route of forced induction. In about another year or so I'll be getting myself an ATI Procharger (or something better that might come before then) and I'm thinking ahead about traction issues... Yes, I know it's still a while before I get one, but I'm buying rims very soon. I want to get an idea of how much tire I'll need for it to hook. I want the car to hook at the track to boast some killer times, but I also want it to be VERY streetable, for that's where most of my racing takes place. So, in everyone's opinion, what tire size will be sufficient? I'm already thinking Nitto 555Rs, but if there's better I'll definately go that route. I also understand I'll have to do some suspension work that can also increase traction. Bottom line is that I don't wanna have major traction problems, but I don't want to have TOO MUCH tire to where the drag and friction slows me down. What do you all think? I know there are MANY peolpe with 500+ rwhp , which is around the figure I'm shooting for initially. Thanks for the input guys...

hehehhe, i didn't know you could use the two words "traction" and " supercharging" in the same sentence???

i have happily found out that a supercharger renders your 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and sometimes 4th gear useless!!

get the biggest, stickiest tire you could find.
i had nitto's and they did help but not that much ( stopped the spinning in 4th!)

get yourself a set of real slicks and have the handy when a money race comes up!

Order of traction:

1. M/T ET Streets (damages 10-bolt rears)
2. BFG Drag Radials (stresses 10-bolt rears)
3. Nitto 555R DR (10-bolt MAY last a while)

Reverse the order for streetability. As a matter of fact, my Nittos outperformed any other performance tire I'd tried, even in the wet.

Problem is, about 6000 miles on BFGs, 16,000 on Nittos and I would only drive ET Streets to the track and back. Of course, mileage varies with abuse.

Man, I didn't know it was like that for all forced induction guys. So you're telling me that no one in here is getting traction on the street? That's kinda hard to believe though. Yeah, people have monstrous power, but still, there's gotta be SOMETHING someone can do for traction. Well, thanks the for the help, maybe someone else has new info???

Imagine how bad it is for gys running turbos and roots style blowers, with all that torque exploding from the start!

I like the centrifugal blower best. With it's RPM dependent boost, the farther you go down the track, the harder that sucker pulls. I've killed many a Big Block this way.

for me only 1st gear is an issue.

all other gears traction is no problem.

I am making decent power too.

this is on street tires as well.

guess I picked the right combo of parts

traction problems in 1st only!!!
you need more power!

an easy mod to for traction is the wooden block mod! ( just put one under the go pedal, it has a positive side effect of saving gas )

Hell ya, I could smash the gas and spin normal street tires on stock 16" rims all the way into 3rd gear. That was with the stock block and the yank stall. I think I scared the hell out of a 01 Vett driver, doing this once.

Lost & Found2, yeah, that'd be awesome, I'd enjoy that. I'll be down here till at least early February, so yeah, sounds good, I haven't been in a fast car since June 6 (last day I drove my car before I left for the Navy)
