Got a '98 With False Knock? Step In!! I'm hearing from some that there is nothing you can do . . . I am getting some 100 today to test, but I'm pretty sure I have false knock problems, and I've heard they plague 98's. Has anyone found a fix for this? I've heard some people say that it's the belt tensioner; mine squeeks and jumps a couple of ribs under hard acceleration, I wonder if that could cause it? Anybody else solve this in any other way??

I've always gotten around 1.4 to 1.9 degrees of KR at WOT whether it was with the blower or not, 93 octane or 108.

Re: Got a '98 With False Knock? Step In!! I get kr on my 98 about 95% of the time I go WOT. But mine usually doesn't show up until I shift from one gear to the next. It gets a spike of about 3*, then dies off until the next shift. I have been assuming that was because I didn't have the engine at the same rpm for the wheels, and when I release the clutch it just puts a lot more load on the engine until the rpms have equalized. But maybe it's not me...I'd like to hope so. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Roll Eyes]" src="images/icons/rolleyes.gif" />

Re: Got a '98 With False Knock? Step In!! Well, turns out I don't have false knock . . . dumped in some 100 and cranked the boost up to 7psi . . . no knock except at high rpms when it's going lean. I'm going to add more fuel to take care of that . . .
