Default Finally went to the strip, 15 psi on pump!

Well, I finally went to the drag strip with my Twin Turbo Chevelle. I went 10.50@ 136.34. I was hopeing to go faster, but the track was way too busy to make any passes. This was on 315/35/17 drag radials and Citgo 93 octane @ 15 psi. I wish I had more time to dial in the suspension. I only hooked a 1.80 second 60'. Last year I did a 1.60 60', but the car did not have turbos. A few more launches and I would have pulled off a high 9 second run. Oh well, always next year!

I wish I would have had time to tune. I was at 11.5:1 afr and 15.5 degrees of timing. I CANNOT GET MY TIMING TO STAY AT TABLE VALUE's!! I am commanding 18 degrees and only getting 15.5???? Anyone know what the deal is?

All in all, not bad for a pumpgas car with a raceweight of about 3840 lbs.

Awesome! Glad your project is doing great after all that work you put into it. Can beat those times on radials and pump gas especially for a heavy car that doesn't have aero working on its side like us sleek 4th gens.

Any videos of the Chevelle running around on the strip or street?
Keep tuning in the off season and set her on kill when the strips open up again.

No video. Another obstacle is that I have the turbos sucking in hot 200 degree air behind the radiator. My intake temp was 138 degrees at the end of the pass.

My biggest problem is my converter. I need to buy a different one. I am pushing through mine. I get 5500 rpm off the trans brake! And mmy data log shows the car stayed at 6600 rpm the entire pass and went through the traps at 6900 rpm at 137!! I have a 3.42 gear with a 26" tall tire! That doesn't sound right does it!

Found out today I have too much power for my 9" converter. That's why I am blowing through it soo bad. Good to know I have more in it. I should have no problem hitting a good 145 mph on pump gas without meth or nitrous or anything.

Turbos are the best power adders! Period!

Wow 145mph on pump would be great. What is your raceweight?

Wow... 145mph at that raceweight would be like 750rwhp. I'd be worried about the heat from pushing that sled to 145 traps... I'd run 100 or more to be safe unless you are super low compression.

I have the same compression as you. I am getting no KR and my plugs look perfect at 15 psi. and that is with 138 degree intake temps! As soon as I route cool air to the turbos, that will help that. I also only am running 15.5 degrees of timing. I am going to up that a little too!

You should call Marty at Neal Chance for your torque converter. Marty can get you set up with a killer converter. Bob

I'd leave the timing alone until you tighten up the converter.

Mighty, That had to be a Meth malfunction or something. That is MAJOR damage that happened really fast!
Even if the my car only sees 140 mph on pump, that is a safe reliable 140 mph on pumpgas. I would be very happy with that. I am running low boost, low timing and a safe AFR.

Untill I get the converter fixed, I am not doing anything else.

it's probably pulling timing due to the high IAT's

check out your timing vs iat table.

I looked at that. It is right on the border of pulling timing. That is probably it. After I build an air box to suck cool air, That will help alot!
