Hey Guys,
Thought that I would let you know that I finally decided to install the propane system that I have had sitting in my closet for about 6 months!
I was going to go with water/alky...I even ordered the SMC kit, but I figured that I might as well toss this on and see what happened.
The car had 101 in it from my trip to the track last week and I would get around 3* of KR with the 101 at sea level. I ran the propane (set to come on at #5) and the 101 and had no knock retard at 9psi.
I am going to fill the car up with 91 tomorrow and will let you know what happens and how much boost I can get away with then.
I will also take some pics of the install if you guys are interested.
For all of the Incon folks, I tapped the nozzle into the aluminum piece between the MAF and the TB and it looks good and is a great place for it!

sounds like its doing its job. Get in some testing, we would all like to know the boost increase you can use with the system.
Also Keep an eye on Air/fuel ratio, im curious on what it will be since your adding fuel. And are you adjusting the A/F ratio or letting it go rich with the propane?

So your Incon manifolds was not already tapped. Mine came with holes in it for extra injectors and had to fab up some plates. Any idea how much your intake manifold temperature is dropping too?

I will be able to give you some pretty accurate A/F relationships because I have a WB o2 on the car all of the time. Prior to the Propane the car was right about 11.5:1 all the way across at sea level. I am going to lean out the car with the PE vs. RPM table in LS1 edit to account for the propane if it is a lot richer.
I'm not sure how I can effectively measure the drop in the intake track temperature, as the injection is after the air temperature sensor and I do not have an EGT gauge. Any ideas here?
I will post what I find in a few hours, I am about to godrive the car and do some tuning.

Ok, so it looks like I am sitting at 10.3:1 all of the way across the board with the propane injection.
So it actually dropped the A/F ratio 1.2 points (used to sit at 11.5:1 the entire way across).
I am going to use LS1_Edit to pull some fuel for the places where the propane is being injected, or I might change the NOS jet in the nozzle to a smaller one and see what happens.
Any ideas on measureing intake air temp?

Looks like with a little bit of tuning 9 psi on 91 octane pump gas should be perfect for this kit.
I made a few blasts on 91, propane, and 7.5 psi and there is 0 KR.

Hey Heath,
I finished up my work in Northern Cali, so I doubt that I will be back in San Jose anytime soon.
The car picked up a ton of power through tuning and it is almost where I want it. I think that if I can drive the car a little better and 60' a little better I will be able to go 10.9 or so at the 2640' track here. Then I will be shooting for a 10.5 at a sea level track.
Hopefully the stock shortblock will last! The car is a blast to drive though...especially now that I don't have to keep filling it up with 101!

Scott (me too) have the FJO wideband costs about $900 and up. With a little work you can do a wideband for $400 or so. www.fjoinc.com

Gary hit the nail on the head! I have the FJO setup on my car full-time.
This unit has really worked well for me, though it is a bit pricey. It has made tuning much easier then it normally would have been.

Having a wide band on all the time isn't hard, i do, all it is, is a box that is approx. 7 in. wide, 3 inches tall, and about 9 inches deep, that i mount on the dash, it has one plug that plugs into a cigarette lighter, and another that has an o2 on the end, that you just place in your exhaust, and is actually more acurate than the exhaust pipe sniffer that most dyno's use. It's great, and allows tuning/monitoring all the time, they are kinda pricey though, most people don't have them just shops usually, but i got a smokin deal on mine, from my buddy who has a shop, someone sold him a couple that they didn't need, so i got one.

Regarding the propane.. what kit are you using? What are your tuning specs? (what pressure are you running at, jets etc)
I just installed the OGS propane kit on my Syclone and have begun tuning it. I'll be using a wideband 02 to tune it, and the extent it richened your car up was interesting.
I put a bottle heater on my propane tank, as it's cold here already, and my bottle pressure dropped significantly.

Here's pics of my setup:
http://www.chitownsyty.com/bg/pics/propain/
OGS has their kit up on their website www.onlygoodstuff.com
It's a pretty expensive kit, compared to the IPO, but it had a few things the IPO didn't have
(duty cycle control, turn on point adjustable in cab, full steel braided line for the supply line). I'm sure the IPO kit would work fine, I just decided to spend the money on the OGS kit, since I really trust the guy who designed it, and his decisions on why he used specific parts.
I used a remote gauge from www.speedshop.org and they may have a propane tank heater setup soon too, based on lower pressure needs of propane.
I've ran 20psi of boost on the propane (with 93 octane), before I was limited to about 15-16psi on 93 octane. I'm still tuning, I may be able to turn it up to 22-23psi I'm guessing, when all is said and done.
