Default tt setup what do you think?

Hey guys i guess i'm building a twin turbo setup for my truck (5.3 L, auto) and want your opinios i'm going to go with two to4e with 47 trim and maybe .81 ar. I want to run 8-9 pounds of boost (500 rwhp) is my goal off of stock bottom end. I'm going with deltagate wastegates and godzilla blow off valves all from turbonetics so do you think this would work best all opinions apreciated good or bad.

thanks in advance

im not sure were to get them if you want the best price. Youll just have to look around.
im not real happy with my deltagate waste gate, you should look for a beter one.

Custom fabricating your own turbo kit will be tough, so good luck.
If you havent already read corky bells "maximum boost, id do so. Youll learn a lot from it.

I dont know how many people have put a turbo kit on there truck. Earthmotors here put a ls1 and turbotech single t-76 in his 72 chevy pickup, i beleive.

yeah definately read that book, i was so confused about what to run until i got that book and it cleared a lot of things up.

those turbos should be sufficient. i bought to T3 turbos from ebay for $400 that i am planning on converting to the T3/T4 hybrids and end up having similar A/R ratios to what you are talking about.

if you buy from ebay i wouldnt expect to have turbos that will be ready to bolt on. use the cheap price to your advantage and have them looked over real well so that way you dont have a crappy pair of turbos and risk them damaging your motor

i was planning on using the deltagates, but after seeing what smokinhawk said, i may have to do some more research,

smokinhawk, why are you unhappy with that wastegate? im curious because ive never heard anything bad about them

in the end we should have a very similar set up

let me know how it goes good luck

what are you planning on using for the exhaust manifolds?

i think its too small for the power out put. it might be ok if you use two of them.
it needs to have a bigger opening to let the exhaust gasses work instead of going with the flow path of least resistance.

redaddiction,

are you planning on running your MAF before or after your turbos?

Wastegates:
Do a TiAL wastegate or an HKS of your doing externals.
Turbos:
You can get a T3/T4 hybrid. You can play with different wheels and it leaves you open for an upgrade at a later date up to a T60. I've done 505RWHP with just 4.5lbs of boost on a stock LS1 block.

As far as the MAF is concerned I run mine after the Turbos. It pegs pretty quickly but you just add the power enrichment and your there.

T3 is a dinky turbo, i'd go with something bigger. www.precisionte.com i wouldnt use anything but theirs, they have the most efficient exhaust housing.

I've already read that book and thats where i've learned a whole lot i'm going to flip my headers upside down and make and elbow to put the turbos more forward so i dont' have oil issues i'm basically copyin aerochargers setup they had on a truck but they never made it but it looks real easy only thing i'm worred about is the elbow from the headers to the turbo and i will run the maf after the turbos.

if i end up running without an intercooler for a while i dont plan on going over like 6 lbs of boost, but that may change depending on how the truck handles it. but im only planning on running about 10 psi with the intercooler

Interesting food for thought.

The PTE housings are built to John Craig at Limit Engineering specifications which is where I get my turbos from.

The thread starter wanted only 500 RWHP with Twin Turbos. Hell the 34's can EASILY produce that at low boost levels. But their too small? You are mis-informed. Go with Twin TE60's then. Course that'll be good for a 1000RWHP.

I could be mis-informed myself but I don't think so. I mean I have 34's and did over 500RWHP with 4.5 PSI...hmmmm. I have the dyno sheets. That's what I call proof.

Harlan runs GT25's. Smaller than the 34's. He got 700RWHP.

chasgiv3 so what would you recommend for me i have a 5.3 L truck that weighs 4500+ pounds and i want to run 10 psi with an intercooler and maybe in a year or more get a bigger motor with forged internals, i would like to see how much i could get out of this motor first, and with the 500 rwhp on your car were you running and intercooler

redaddiction, I run an Intercooler yes. Front mount in my F-Body by tilting the radiator back to fit it. Honestly in my build up I never even thought about running without an intercooler. 500 RWHP is achievable with the stock bottom end. One thing to consider is the amount of boost you'll need to run. Your heads may be a limiting factor here. Ported heads and anything you can do to make sure you fill the cylinders would be a good idea. Otherwise you'll need to crank up the boost. Without an Intercooler it'll be difficult to keep the intake temps down. What RWHP levels are you at with the current motor? What kind of fuel do you intend on running to achieve 500RWHP?

Air21, sorry bout that. I thought you wrote 34. I agree that a pai of simple T3's is too small.

i haven't dynoed my truck yet i really need to but its 80 bucks i could use somewhere else and that is alot of money for me right now, i always run 93 octane anything better is only available at drag strips and such so i would probaly run lower boost on the strip
