Default T-Trim pics

Here are some pictures of the RMCR T-Trim conversion installed in my car. Very nice fit for the kit. The only drawback is that the brackets are steel, not aluminum. Definitely stronger though. Go to the link and the pictures will be at the bottom of the page.

that is f-ing sweet! very clean. is that an 8-rib setup? what size crank pulley? What balancer is that? What boost levels are you seeing at 6000rpm? How high do you rev it (engine and blower rpm)?

I use the aftercooler that came with the 9-lb kit, Later I will be designing one that goes under the dash, where the glove compartment goes. The Crank pulley and damper are the ones supplied with the original vortech kit also, as far as 8-rib- I would have to check. I'm running the small pulley on the blower (2.75"). I haven't dyno tuned yet, but I plan on spinning it to 6600-6700. I should make 15lb. or so with this setup, taking into account the height above sea level in the Chicago area. Hope that answered the questions. And thanks Curt, hope to see you at 41 one of these days.

Thanks guys, Just a few words on the install. The install was fairly easy, although a few pictures in the manual showing alignment of the parts would have been nice. I had a problem with one of the bolts that goes through the brackets and is then held together with a nut. It was too long and protruded into my intake (Holley). I just washered the bolt from the front to solve the problem. The clearance between the SC pulley and the MAF is only about 1/8 to 1/4. It is solid at this point though, I don't see any potential problems. I am however running the 2.75" pulley. Instructions say to move the hood strut bracket over about an inch for clearance with the intake tube. This was not an option for me, so I removed the DS hood strut all together. I could probably make it fit, this was just easier. After I put all of the other tubing/aftercooler back on, it seemed to fit under my hood much better than the G-Trim, go figure. Anyway other than these points, the install was very easy.

It is an 8 rib belt.
Depending on your cam you will make 15psi. I make 14psi in my 383 in Colorado Springs which is over 6000 feet above sea level.

So the blower sits on top of the motor? Will your DG hood clear?

What are you doing for a fuel system? Looks great.

The blower does sit more or less above the motor, in the same spot that the other one was at. Installed, it sits less than 1/4 inch higher than the old one. It does clear the DG hood fine, I was suprised at that one. I didn't have to do any cutting of it.

As for fuel, I will swap injectors- get rid of the 38lb's, probably go with 50lb injectors, Get rid of the T-Rex inline pump, go with dual intank pumps.

Coop,
I want to give you and everyone else on this thread the "scoop." Vortech told me twice yesterday (12-26-02) that the aftercooler that Vortech sells with their F-body kit (S or G trim) will only flow 1000 cfm versus the 1200 cfm made by the T-trim.

Therefore, one of the following has to be true: (1) Vortech's statement is wrong, or (2) Vortech's statement is correct, in which case, your current aftercooler is a major performance restriction and you (and I) need an air-to-air intercooler or similar unit.

I am sensitive to these issues because I am switching from the G-trim to the YS-trim and am searching for an intercooler.

Thanks for the info, The input and output to the aftercooler especially would be restrictions. I will run with the setup as is for the time being though, short on money. I was already planning to do something else anyway. Hopefully somebody will come up with a good setup!

This is interesting to note. Let us know what you come up with on an intercooler. For now though the T trim setup with the standard aftercooler is still better than the G trim by far.
