anyone take out intake fuel pump from inside car? i need to replace the pump inside the tank. i know it can be removed from inside the car by cutting a hole in the floor. i used to do it on old my old irocs. it was sooo much easier. thanks if you can help. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

Re: anyone take out intake fuel pump from inside car? I have a area cut above my fuel tank to get at the fuel pump. I took like 1:30 with a dremel and a lite touch not to hit the fuel lines but I did it. You want to start with say a 5inX5in in the center to see where you are and go for there. I know that you have to cut room for the fuel lines cause they dont connect right at the fuel pump. You'll see what I mean if ya do it. I would say when done you will have like a ft long hole.

Re: anyone take out intake fuel pump from inside car? I also cut an access hatch. On the 99s there is less than 1/8" clearance from the tank and sheet metal. Also the sheet metal is nearly 1/8" thick in that location, not gonna be able to cut it with snips. I dropped the tank, cut the access hatch with a saws-all, then put it back in. I have add the pump module out several times since then, so its paid for itself many times.

Re: anyone take out intake fuel pump from inside car? I used my cutoff wheel air tool. The metal is thick. Using tin snips would be very difficult. I actually should have cut another inch towards the rear for better access.
Re: anyone take out intake fuel pump from inside car? hey mines done. a little tip for 99 up guys. we have a different gas tank then the 98. so i cut mine like ls1ss and i even started back about 2 inches and i had to go back further so i wound up making an escape hatch. so for you 99 up guys start right from the back edge of the floor and work your way up. ill be installing the pump this week when i get it. thanks for all your help guys. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />
