Allthough I don't have a LS1, my 99 5.3 has 81,000 miles on it, 21,000 miles being blown with a Whipple and runs perfect.

Turned out to be a head gasket like we thought, but I'm not sure on what to do about this whole situation now...

blown98, your post made my morning. I drive my car 55 miles round trip to work, so I was hoping to see something like yours, 40K miles without problems. I don't beat this thing, and I do my best to stay out of the throttle. It's hard to though!

We went very conservative on my tune, so much so that I can run 91 octane fuel (the best I can get in the bay area CA pumps). My timing maxed at 17, anything higher starting pushing me into KR situations.

I was hoping to join your long mile lasting crowd, looks like it didn't happen that way... <img border="0" alt="[bang head]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_banghead.gif" /> <img border="0" alt="[barf]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_barf.gif" />

Hey LS1 Bird. I cant help notice that you have NOS on your car. Have you had the guts to spray that engine while boosting #8. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="gr_eek2.gif" />

If so what shot are you using 25, 50, 75???

wow glad to hear it was only the gasket.

you do need to figure out whats up with the oil everywhere though.

did you do the checkvalve, catch can, etc... to make sure your not misting oil into the intake????

I've watched the PCV valve before....it gets oily, the intake has been shiney on the inside....

not 100% sure where the oil is coming from, but I got a solid reason now as to why the head gasket popped...the heads on the car now, are milled, anywhere from 10.7:1 - 11:1 compression...
