Default Difference in meth/water/washer fluid ??

How do the effects differ between the two? What are the drawbacks of water? What are the drawbacks of washer fluid? It's a progressive application. The meth seems logically to be the best as far as internal impact goes, at least in my mind.

Thanks alot.

Washer fluid and Meth are two different things, both are alcohol or atleast contain it, just different types. Not all of the washer fluids are going to contain the same amount and will not provide the same increase in octane as when you might use one with a higher concentration of alcohol etc... the cooling effects are good as the rest of the washer fluid is usually in large part water. So just pay attention to what you use if it is going to be washer fluid then tune for that and use the same one/brand so that the mix is more consistent. I would just recomend using your own blend of Mehtanol and water though. Can't really help you on the Eboost size though.

FWIW. A lot of the guys with S/C 3800's (W-body) lean toward the Walmart -20°F washer fluid as the fluid of choice. HTH

Wal Mart windshield fluid is reputed to be about 25-30% methanol. How much meth you want depends on what you're trying to accomplish. A Roots or twin screw definitely benefits from the cooling effect, whereas something like a Procharger, which runs cooler, would likely benefit from more the octane. The more rapid evaporation of straight meth is a plus if injected post-intercooler, whereas injecting into the hot, rapidly spinning rotors of a positive displacement blower tends to evaporate even straight water pretty well. Some people regard a 50-50 mix as ideal for cooling, which would require about 4 12 Oz bottles of Heet dry gas or other form of straight methanol added to a gallon of washer fluid. For the fuel value, you would want to run straight methanol.

It depends on what your trying to do. Water has the highest latent heat do to evaporation or phase change. Methanol is lower followed by ethanol.

If you are concerned about knock then run high % or pure methanol, if not and only want cooling then water with some alcohol is fine.

Just remember if your running pure meth then you should retune for it.

It's for the fuel value/octane. I'm gonna start at around 10#, but would really like to be able to sport 14-15#s on 93 or better pump gas without grenading anything too soon. It's for a 76gts turbo.

Thanks for the replies, they were along the lines of what I was thinking, it's just good to hear it from a handful of folks.
