LS1 Twin Turbo Z28. Almost done!!!!
I'm in the process of building my own twin turbo kit for my LS1 Z28
M6. I'm using (2) stock 1G turbos w/ internal wastegates off an eclipse and two side mounted intercoolers. I have all the fuel system upgrades so that's taken care of. I'm going to be using the stock manifolds because they're strong enough to hold up the turbos under heat. I'm going to be using 3'' piping (like the type that imports use as intakes) for all the turbo to intercooler to intake plumbing. The flanges have been chopped off the manifolds and replaced with custom matching sets for the turbos. Oil will be feed to the turbos via (2) scavenging pumps. I'm hoping to make at least 450rwhp with this kit stock, and once i add a new forged internal engine w/ 6.0L heads and upgraded turbos (like the T-34's) i'm hoping for 600rwhp+.
Does this sound like a good setup to you guys? Please correct me if something feels wrong or out of place. I have the turbos and intercoolers. $300 for everything. I also have a friend who is a professional welder and he can do all the welding and bending of the pipes. IF at all possible stay away from scavenge pumps. If you can get the turbos high enough for a gravity return line you can T off the high pressure oil send to both turbos..

I first saw your post on www.camaroz28.com, and I wanted to say that I admire your DIY spirit, sort of like those DIY turbo kits the Ford guys have done.
Sounds like it will all work the stage I Incon turbos are not huge and they can make big power.
Are you going to use an intercooler.

Yeah. Two side mounted intercoolers. Each can handle 300hp. When i upgrade to T-34s i'm going to upgrade both intercoolers. Anymore advice guys?

We are talking gravity drain. As long as the oil can flow down hill from the turbo outlet to the pan you dont need a pump to get the oil back into pan. Also you dont need a pump to get the oil to the turbo's. You remove the block off plate above filter there is a pressurized port underneath. Just make an adapter plate or thread the existing plate and you know have a pressurized oil supply for both turbos. This is how Incon did it. Work well.

I am thinking of doing this after I see the pictures that you post, I feel that the only thing that I am going to change is do a single fornt mount intercooler, as opposed to the twin style, that should save on the pipeing needed.
I dont know though...
I need to build up a motor for this first, with low compression, I have hte 14b's, and stock DSM intercoolers, so I am pretty muc set

Way to go!! I hope to hear a great sucess story at the end of your adventure. I only wish I had the knowledge and friends to do my own kit.

where are the turbos going to be installed, front or back of the motor?

Sorry guys i haven't been repleying lately. I've been real busy lately w/ the kit and work. I'm glad to say i have both intercoolers and turbos mounted up and all the plumbing is done except for the main intake. I'm still designing it as we speak. I started the car to make sure the turbos didn't lock up or anything and they didn't. I should have the whole thing done w/ proper oil lines (steel braided) to the turbos and proper sleeves for the joints within 2 weeks. If all goes well i'm going to be upgrading the turbos in june. Pic have been taken and i'm just waiting on my friend to upload and post them for me.

Not trying to hyjack here but how much gain would one see when using ceramic impellers versus metal, i know spool would be faster, any opinions on bang versus buck?

Ceramic impellers look good on paper, but their life-span isn't too great. The Buick GNX came with a ceramic impeller, and many people (who actually drove their car) experienced breakage after a decent amount of miles. Most owners, who found this out, pulled the stock turbo and replaced it with something similar in size (PTE-44, PTE-49). Those stock GNX turbos sell for a pretty penny, nowadays!! When in for warranty work, the dealers would replace the ceramic impeller with metal.

gets lodged into the intercooler or eaten up by the motor, that steered me twards purchasing t4's with a metal impeller, and simply polishing the turbine/compressor housing's versus coating them.
