My LT1 went 11.9@128 with a 2.2 60' time and a 6speed. The slow 60' was a result of my fear of shattering the rearend. The run was on 245/50/16 nittos and I bounced the rev limiter before the end of the track. These things are all a result of the drivetrain, not the power source. An H/C car would have the same problems. I am swapping to a TH400 due to price and a 9in. I'm not sure what to expect out of the car but I have little doubt that I will run well into the 10s. This car is also much heavier than stock due to the added weight of the turbo system and heavier drivetrain. No gutted interior here!

hehe I am not saying you cant get a manual to work well.

All I am saying is that with the turbos it is EASIER to go faster with a TH400 and brake

thats all

Chris

ps- Harlan has the mph for a sub 9.50 pass. I think with the TH400 and brake it would hit it easy with hook.

Turbos have problems at the dragstrip building boost off the line in six speed apps.

Some people think lag doesnt matter but it is HUGE in drag racing. That is why the blower cars typically run faster than similar powered turbo cars (even with the torque disadvantage of the blower)

Losing boost through shifts in the M6 hurts the Turbo cars as well...

Put a TH400 with Brake in the turbo car launching at full boost with WOT shifts through the A3 and you'll see a totally different story

Chris

Um sorry Chris that isn't ture. Harlan raa 10.000 @142 mph with a six speed, that's with tiny t-25 turbos. The reason most turbo cars are slow is they require lots of tuning to run well and if you haven't noticed there isn't a good turbo kit. I'm jut saying turbo cars going fast have a lot less to do with the tranny than the tuning issues and the availability of good kits.

Sorry Dude it is true

Harlan will tell you himself that if he had a T-braked TH400 in the car he would have run in the LOW 9's with traction that day likely with higher mph than with the six speed

Ask him why he is planning to go TH400 with brake. I know why, he is chasing 8's!!

Chris, while it maybe true that Harlan is going with a TH400 (last time I hear he was going with a Jerico 4 speed?), that doesn't mean he's going to go low 9's with the change of a tranny. Look at Rob Raymer, he had a TH400 with a brake and a huge T88 single turbo, he ran 9.94 @ 138 with a 1.51 60'; which is consistent for an auto, quicker ET (by a little) and a less mph (by a little). I'm not saying that going with an auto isn't ideal for a turbo (or any drag racing application for that matter) but it's just not going to make the dent u think it will

Linear,

I guess that we will have to see... I will be up at LACR in Palmdale in a few weeks with my TH400.

The transmission is the only change that I have made from the 6 speed...I am even going to leave the tuning the same.

You are welcome to come out and see what kind of difference the auto will make in my car at the same track.

Hope to see you there, always interested in meeting a fellow enthusiast.

Thanks,

Scott

Chris....go check out some of the setups at turbomustangs.com

a lot of guys over there are running manuals and flyn'. Its not that you cant get a manual to work well with a boosted car, it just is not easy.
