Re: Belt breaking
What kind of tensioner are you running? Are you sure you are not throwing belts causing them to break, as opposed to just breaking them? Ka-tech makes a really nice billet tensioner that will straighten the thrown belt issues right out...

Belt breaking
I have an ls1 engine with a d1sc procharger.Belts kept slipping so had an 8 rib belt system made. I'm running a ati balancer with a 7.78 drive pulley and 3.60. It's building 14 # boost. I drove two hours to get to track Sunday belt was tight and no marks of miss alignment from drive. Broke two belts in two passes down the track. Does any body have any ideas why?
Thanks

Re: Belt breaking
Running stock tensioner it just a bolt tightening tensioner system. Talked to procharger tech support he say he thinks the bracket is flexing and throwing beltat high rpm and to brace to engine. Cann't see a way to brace bake to motor any suggestion. Where can I get a Ka-tech pulley? Whould like to try that first.

Re: Belt breaking
Whos belt are you using ? Some of the mustang guys had the same problem with the gates belts and switched to dayco and have had no more problems.

Re: Belt breaking
Unless one of our sponsors carries their part, this is the only place I know of to get the solid tensioners.

Re: Belt breaking
SS35TH thats exactly why I got rid of my D-1.D-1 bracketry is a **** poor design in IMO what is there 8 inches in the(J)part with no support whatsoever at high rpm,or boost it chucks or shreds the belt .With a stock engine and 10psi it seems o.k put beyond that it requires alot of patience.Changing brand of belts didnt help me a bit it trashed everyone I tried, all I can say is good luck custom engineering a remedy.I(hear)of fixes but have yet to actually see one really work under track abuse.I predict alot of angry D-1&F-1 owners once the tracks open,at least those that havent figured a way to keep belt together.25 passes and about 15 belts for me.Im not an expert just sharing my personal experience.

Re: Belt breaking
I ordered the 7.85" crank pully and not sure what size blower pully yet....
These 8 rib belts are really having this tough of a time sticking together huh..
Cogs is REALLY the way to go I guess, but thats when I come up with an extra $1500 bucks.....
