question about boost?

question about boost? On every board I go to the general consensus is when you supercharge you should only run 5lbs of boost on stock internals. However, when you turbocharge the safety zone is 7lbs. Whats the deal, why are there different numbers for those?

Re: question about boost? That may be true if they were comparing the Turbo to non-intercooled/non-aftercooled systems. Intercooling/aftercooling increases the boost you can run on a supercharger. Who runs a SC without inter/after cooling these days?

Re: question about boost? Acutally ive noticed that people run more boost with a supercharger 9si while those with a turbocharger run around 7psi (pump gas)
approximatly with stock engine.
maybe cause the turbo produces a little more heat. but output can be the same.

Re: question about boost? I think you answered my question. I was thinking about non intercooled superchargers. Thats why they are using less boost on stock bottom end/compression
