Default Co2 to help spool

Does anybody use Co2 injected into the compressor housing to spool a big turbo?

Sorry, I actually ment turbine side. I saw it plumbed on a used turbo for sale.

Doesnt the co2 cool the exhaust gasses? Doesnt the heat help drive the turbine? Just wondering thanks

Guys have been using it for several years. You use it on the gates to control boost. AFAIK, it's not used for cooling.

Wow you know nothing on Turbo chargers huh.. No the heat doesn't help tunr the turbine the flow of the exhaust gast through the turbine is what spools the turbo up.

Click me if you want to know how a turbo works.

I believe the heat does have SOME effect on how it spools ,not saying that is what actually spins the turbine. Just because the almighty Howstuffworks doesnt mention it doesnt mean its not a factor.

Heat does play a "major" role indeed. All turbo are tested with 1100deg inlet temps. Drop the temp and you drop the efficiency, which then shifts your compressor map. We are just bandaiding the lack of heat with shear volume and velocity. C02 at high pressure with enough volume is very nice. Makes for a good leaf blower to .

Thanks but how could that be.? HOWITWORKS makes no mention of the heat..? Thanks for the info Jose I thought I ran across what you said above in a different thread. So the bennifit of spooling quicker out weighs the loss of heat from the co2? Or is there not enough or any cooling of the exhaust gasses to make a difference?

hmmmmm. seems like a good solution to a bang-bang antilag set up! well in the fact that you will have a turbo left after a few months anyway! hehe.

do you guys just use it on the start line, or could it be used for a road course? how long would a resonable sized bottle last? could you use air and a pump? questions, questions!

thansk Chris.
