Default what am i missing?

i'm trying to plan out everything else i need to buy, and just want to make sure that I've got everything on "the list" ao i'm not doing too much last minute scrambling.

things i've ordered:

Nasty fuel system, comes with everything except injectors
turbo kit (hi-flo)
6.0L heads (with springs)
4'' exhaust

ordering next week:

60# injectors
head gasket/head studs
gagues/pod

then after that I'll be getting my drivetrain:

clutch
driveshaft
chassis mounted T/A
rear end

I've got to be missing a few things, what else will i be needing?

Spark Plugs?

Rear end... Cool, what gears? 12-bolt or 9 inch?

What are you doing for the front end of the car (IC)?

I'd go with the 9" and 3.70 gears.
Also, the hi-flo kits come with the FMIC and piping so that is covered.

The only thing I can think of off the top of my head is the tuning software if you plan on tuning yourself, or just take it somewhere. If you plan on boosting past 10-12psi forged pistons and rods are a MUST although I would recommend doing them now when the heads are going on. Then if you wanna crank up the boost, you will feel more comfortable doing so. Other than that, you have all bases covered from what I can see. I'm sure misc stuff like bolts (rod, flywheel, etc), fluids (coolant, oil, etc), plugs (NGK TR-6 .035 gap), etc will come up; but we are talking the major components which you seem to have covered. Don't forget the small things since they seem to add up fairly quickly!

Good luck on your buildup, I will be right behind you this spring with the same sort of setup!

Yeah, i plan on getting tr-6 spark plugs when i buy my oil/coolant. Right now I'm planning on getting a 9'' so i can buy one of harlans new 2-steps and get some nice spool off the line and dump the clutch without worrying about a weaker 12 bolt. as for gears i was thinking something in between stock and 3.90, really haven't decided yet. I only plan on running the 7# spring this year, next year I'm getting a nice forged block and a boost controller.

After thinking about the placement of the Hi-flo intercooler i am thinking about getting a nice alkycontrol system, any thoughts on this?

also, another thing i would like to add, i was planning on getting a wideband setup as me 3rd gauge, and either hptuners or efilive to keep the tune in check during the summer (initial tune will be by dont be the pros). there is also a sunoco a short ways from my house with 100 octane, i was thinking about running that only.

also, the stock map sensor is good up to 14.7psi correct? or will i need to buy a 2bar?

Go with a stock gear, Turbos make plenty of torque no need to multiply if further. Few shifts the better, also helps you stay out of your over driver gears at the end of the track!
Definatly go 3.42's or higher (ie 3.23).

Later,
Dave

1. You say you will only run 7#'s now but I know if you are like me you will get boost crazy and try and turn it up. You will need at least a mechanical boost controller from the get go to control the boost for the fuel. If you wanna step it up later on you can go with an electronical one. That's what I plan on doing.

2. Get the Innovate XD-1 standalone gauge. A non-sponsor sells them fairly cheap. PM me and I will be sure to let you know where to get it. I recommend HPTuners 2.0 EIO. Easy to use and a lot of people on here us it so finding out information should be a breeze. The EIO is cool so you can log the Innovate wideband directly into the scanner software to monitor the AFR while scanning.

3. When you decide to turn up the boost you can opt to get the 2bar setup for the HPTuners. Then you will be speed density and won't have to worry about the sensor.

I never thought of that. I may stay 3.42 then.

A suggestion I have is to have your injectors flowed. Put the best flowing ones on #7 and #8.

You have any recommendations for a nice manual boost controller?

that's what I've heard was the best, but i didnt know it was compatible with HPTuners. Is there a way to wire it up so it replaces your O2 sensor aswell or do you have to weld another fitting on the dp?

I don't know. Anyone should be fine. Do a search and ask around for people who have manual boost controllers and get their opinions. That is the best way to find out which ones are "good" since they are being used on practical applications by people just like you. That is the beauty of sites like Ls1Tech.

I welded a bung into my Ipipe, but I am still NA. When I go turbo, I will weld it into the downpipe, about 8-10 inches from the turbo. I believe that is the "optimal" weld spot for the bung. Yes, Innovates wideband is compatible with the HPTuners software. Mine works fine and I have it hooked up to the EIO for logging. When the time comes I can tell you what wires go where.

Let me know

Andy
