Default Procharged 370

i have a few questions concerning my setup...

(370ci built motor, stage 2 heads, 230/236 115LSA cam, 9.5 c/r)

1. what spark plugs should i run?
2. How much boost should i run as a daily driver?
3. are there any parts i should get to support this setup?
4. How long will my built 370ci motor last under this pressure?

Most seem to like the TR6 plugs.As a daily driver you could run whatever boost you feel comfortable with,for example you could get an 8 psi pully for the street to keep it a bit taimer and then for the track get a smaller pully to up the boost.For other parts you need,obviously gauges to monitor the system but if you dont already have it you need a fuel system upgrade.For example, 42/60# injectors and intank fuel pump etc.As long as you tune is good and you get atequate fuel and dont detonate you more could last a long time especially as a daily driver.

With that motor and 9.5 C/R try running 12psi. Get either TR6 or 7's. If you can get the largest Hi impedence injectors such as the RC 75lbs just in case u want to add more boost later.

1. tr6's
2. with out knowing to much about your setup or tune 5#s safely you most likely can run more but i don't know much of what you have done.
3. there lots of stuff you can buy. i would at least get a wideband setup to monitor your fuel, what do you have for fuel?injectors?pumps?
4. that depends on your driving,how much boost you run,and how good of a tune you have.

my setup includes full LT headers, dual 3 in exhaust no cats. Full fuel system (pump, 60s, and fuel pressure guage) . Patriot stage 2 heads, 230/236 cam 115LSA. MAFless tune, 3.4" pully for the track (14-18psi). 370ci iron block built with diamond 15cc pistons and callies rods. I have been running 8 psi on the stock longblock and saw 500rwhp. i am looking to run slightly more then 600rwhp but i think that can be accomplished with the same boost using the new heads and cam... looks like you got it covered minus the gauges other than the fuel pressure gauge.And i didnt see it but youre going to need a clutch if you dont already have 1.

Hmmm . . . on what octane? I've got 91 at the pump here, 8.7:1 370ci, my buddy that tunes my car doesn't want to go past 11psi, even at low timing ( 16-18 ).

With a forged bottom end and no spark knock present, you shouldn't have any problems running 12 to 14 psi. Unless you're beating the snot out of it every chance you get, the engine will last a long time. Bob

Thanks Bob . . . that's the interesting thing, my knock sensors do not work ( have not for 2 years CANNOT figure it out, as soon as I go WOT it pulls 4 degrees automatically ). So all I have is my ear to tune with . . . how comfortable would you be pushing the car and listening for audible knock ( just like the ole days I suppose! )?

Thats not good.By the time you hear audible knock that means your detonating really bad.Why not replace the sensors and check the wires and all rather than risking blowing up your motor.

i had the same problem, i changed the knock sensors and harness to the newer style. i guess 98's had that problem with 4deg of knock retard. stock you should have the 222's and you would need the second design which is 603's with harness. you'll need 2 of this part# 1045603 which are the knock sensors and the matching harness 15320926. gmpartsdirect.com to get them cheap

I would go this route and replace your knock sensors so that you don't have to worry about the tune. Bob
