STS Kit In Finally (need help)
STS Kit In Finally (need help) Ok I just got my standard kit in with a blow off valve. I just wanted to know if there would be anything else I may need besides tunning? I want to run 5 PSI, do I need anything extra? what about if I want to run 8 PSI? any info will help thanks, John 2002 Z28
8 psi is fine to run on a stock motor. You don't need alky injection. You can run more than 8psi if you do get methenol injection or customize an intercooler to it. Before running 8 psi though (assuming you have a good tune) I'd suggest getting bigger fuel injectors. I'm running 42# ones in my car. What kind of spark plugs are you running? You need to run a cold plug. I've got NGK T6 iridiums in mine. Eventually you'll need a bigger fuel pump.
If you are going to run anything over 5 psi, get something to cool IAT's (FMIC or alky). Matter of fact, it's not a terrible idea to run a FMIC even at 5 psi. Just make sure the tune is on! Enjoy.
well, I had to put a new clutch in within the first week, replaced the limited slip rear, gears, added axles, alky injection then added a boost controller for 8psi. Then I blew a head gasket which turned into a heads and cam swap, injectors, oil pump and a hellavalot more money then I ever planned.

Make sure to get at least a set of 918 valve springs when you can. I'd stay at five # for awhile seeing as my car is set at 5 but has been over boosting to 7 in the winter. Oh yeah and the clutch went after 2 weeks and I'll need a 12 bolt soon.

Valve springs will enhance the performance yes, but they aren't necessary. I'll upgrade mine sometime in the future but the car still runs great without upgrading them. The tune is the key to it all.
