silly question....why the 404 cube instead of the "tried and true" 370-388 cube for turbo application. I thought the bigger cubes cut down on the power band of a turbo set up. I am guessing that this thing is so extreme and the heads are so big (cathederal port All Pro, etc) and the supporting parts are huge to enormous, that the extra cubes are called for, but was not sure.

It is great to see a build up of a truly built car so we that have "street cars" can appreciate the differenence between our work and a true race car. At least I can now.

What would this cost to duplicate from start to finish...if the customer supplied a 98-02 F-Body? $125K, 150K???? I wish I had the money....I would be driving around on the streets in a 7 second F-body! In safety non the less!

Upper a-arms are stock and the front suspension mounts at stock locations. They are powdercoated gray just like the steering rack and a few other suspension items.

Ryan, after all the wiring is comlete, final assembly can proceed. We will not be racing the car....it is still snowing here It will probably just idle around until after the Autorama sometime. May need to keep it clean for a few photo shoots

Mike and Steve (Ohio Boyz)have beat the **** out of their W2W 408 for 2 1/2 years with no issues.I call that "tried and true).

Engine made 1560 hp with a little 94 mm.Once I learn how to drive a 7 second car there will be a 101mm getting bolted up.

Agreed! Threads like this have to be good for business as well.

BTW, I think one of the reasons why the 370ci has been so popular as the 'proven' engine is because it fell within a spec for a class. Obviously this engine size works and others have assumed it's optimal so they've copied the 'proven' fomula... Given a choice and no limits, I think you'd see racers using larger engines.

Guys, he already had the ~404ci motor from when ARE built the car for nitrous. W2W rebuilt the motor I'm sure, but the crank and what-not were probably already there. I could be wrong though.

Todd, thanks for the update. I'm really excited how the interior and other little details are going to turn out. This build is exactly the way a racecar should be built IMO. I love the lack of fancy electronics and boost controllers, the similicity of everything, the safety stuff thrown in, the color (grey and silver) on the suspension and chassic pieces, the wheels, etc, etc. If the car was black, silver, or white, I'd probably fly up there just to make sweet love to it. Wait...never mind that last part .

Post more pics!

I doubt this car will run a 6 with the current power plant, regardless of the turbo size.

Ryan,ARE never actually built anything, they did butcher up my car though.

The only carry over parts from the nitrous engine were the block,Jesel lifters and belt drive.

I bought a lightweight Callies crank for this engine. The old 4" Callies crank reside's in the 427 in my Z06.

When we all were in Bradenton, which was close to heaven for us FI guys , most of the combo's were 400+ CU IN small blocks or 500+ CU IN big blocks.

FI Power is certainly not linear with cubes, but I bet you'll see more 400+ combo's in the future as opposed to 350-370's. We may go with a 414 CU IN LS platform ..without an overbore....figure that combo out....and Todd no cheating!
