Whipple 3.3L tuner kit vs. Starr Performance 3.3L kit

We have tried to buy the LS1 -LS6 tuner since it was first on their website 3 months ago.
We have emailed them 3 times and called them twice and explained to the not so friendly girl we wish to purchase this kit and a new 5Litre charger they are advertising.
We have noticed they have put the Kit price up a $1000
We are still ready to purchase but are getting very tired of not being able to purchase or any feedback of dates.
Cheers Phonsy

i just got a reply from Whipple this morning. $9000 for the black kit with 10rib system and no heat exchanger stuff.
WOW!!!!!
I'm thinking these things would produce way too much low end torque to be useful on the street anyway. and trying to launch at the strip would be a nightmare. But at least now we know that the 3.3L kit is available from 2 different places for about the same price and that it will fit my truck at least. Screw you F body guys. I didnt ask about you, lol.

Seems to me like these FI kits aren't giving you any serious bang for the buck as of yet.

obviously it is whipple. and i was wong, it's actually not $9000. it's $7100 for the black kit. BUT, no heat exchanger, stock TB size, and it won't fit around the firewall. This is what whipple told me today.
Dan,

> I'm currently working on fitting into the truck, height is not a problem, but fitment around the firewall is. Currently, the TB bolts to the rear of the SC then the customers need to make large air ducts to transfer the air. I'm working on getting something back there to turn 180 deg's. Should be available soon.

it's ET. That's not bang for your buck? If you thnk $5K is a lot for that
kind of performance, you should find a new hobby.
DanaliHD,
That's incredible that Whipple is asking $7K+ for the blower alone.

No offense of course, but I think you're barking up the wrong tree.
It's going to take damned near 100hp to turn that sucker I'd bet.
Just run a big turbo and a little 50shot or so to spool it if needed.
Just my opinion of course.

As I mentioned previously, the only car I've heard of running a 3.3L
Whipple is a '03 Cobra. From what I read on a Mustang board, it made
670rwhp with a severerly hurt motor. It's currently being rebuilt.

The "normal" 2.3L Whipple blower for '03 Cobras is in the middle.
The 3.3L is on the left for comparison purposes.

direct quote from whipple:
The 3.3L takes very little hp, less than any centrifugal or roots. A turbo takes nearly nothing to move air so there is no question that a turbo takes less. But because the 3.3 is "bigger" doesn't mean it takes more energy to operate. At 1000hp, on a 500in motor, 12lbs of boost, turning 12,000rpm, it would be taking approx. 75hp to operate. Temp would be approx. 100 deg over ambient while a turbo would be 300 over ambient. They all have there strengths and weakness, nothing can beat a turbo for peak hp, especially when combined with an intercooler. But nothing can make the torque or instant torque that a screw can make. The screw gives you the best of both worlds, incredible torque down low and very close to turbo power on top.
I'm totally amazed that someone there is actually taking the time to talk to me. This rules!!! usually they are a bunch of douche bags. Looks like things are indeed changing at whipple industries
I want one of these kits SO BAD. Whitt1 is making his own right now and i'm jealous.

Well,I have a big black Whipple W200AX/3300AX sitting at my office and a Starrperformance intake, heat exchanger and pre-supercharger manifold next to it.I'm planning to build a drive system using my Magnacharger tensioner setup and a 6 rib belt.I'm hoping to run 15lbs of boost with my 403 on 93 octane pump premium and meth injection.Any suggestions?

I'm looking at a whipple for the Silverado now. We need to tow a 22"ft Trailer with it and N2O is not so good for that.
While talking about Whipples: I'm putting a 2.3 whipple on a SC 3800 powered 2000 Grand Prix this week.
