Default Should I switch to a Procharger?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

ive been having a long debate with myself. tryin to decide if i want to go with a procharger now instead of the juice. But i really cant justify this myself to spend another 5000+ in a procharger kit to be at about the same hp level im at now. and im only doing NOS 100 dry right now. I see the p1sc kit doing about what 500hp and I was at 470ish before several other mods. Basically im not a track racer, not really much of a street racer anymore either just do all this for fun. My car is no longer a daily driver, used to be. But thats why now im tryin to decide what i want to do with it. Should i just go into the heads now and a nitrous ported set of heads, and work on setting my car for more juice. Oh yeah another thing is my 15 lb bottle can last me 3-4 months so that gives you an idea of how much if at all im on the bottle.

Im trying to get some ideas of who went with juice and switched. I also debated... will my stock bottom end handle if i went with a procharger set up for only 5-6 lbs, as you know i rarely use the juice so this would already be nice since its always there. AND then for insurance have a 50 dry on top. 5-6lb would put me at about what hp and tq wise and then 50 on top would put me where.

Go with whatever you can afford in regards to super/turbo, but move your nitro to a FMIC sprayer!

You've got some nice mods. I wonder, are you considering the Procharger for show, or fun or both? I'm having a hard time understanding how your bottle can last you that long and you still want a blower. : ) But I assure you, if you have a blower you'll be standing on it more and it will always be there for you. The power delivery will compliment your suspension mods and it won't come in hard like the nitrous and blow the tires away. A 6-8 psi system will be totally reliable and as you say put you pretty much where you are now, and perhaps several horsepower (40 or so) over with your valvetrain and exhaust mods. An LS6 with an 8 psi kit is good for 520 or better and feels great on the road. If you decide to go with the Procharger make sure the people you order it from are aware of your mods at the time of order so you can take advantage of a higher airflow level.

since it seems like you hardly use your car on the bottle, I find it hard to justify spending several grand to add a supercharger. Like the old saying goes, if it ain't broke don't fix it! Unless you really want to have a supercharger..

A 50 shot with a 7-8 lbs of boost will result in kaboom.

There are several nice things about a supercharger, that is it is always there waiting to engage, the sound is nice and the drawbacks are belts and you will want more after you get used the the 500 or so you want. When your motor wears out after you bolt on the PS1C/DS1C you can go forged like I did and really have fun

i dont know if ill say ill get bored of the 500 always there.... ive been on the juice since 2002 had the jets at 100 and still there... im just liking the fact of having the supercahrger always there. if i get tired then ill spray it too

thanks for some good notes.... i want the charger just because it always there. and as i said this is not a daily car anymore, it pretty much gets turned on and i put maybe 20-30 miles a week now

when i last had it dynoed... i was at 470/490 without: the gmmg i had flowbastards, no electric water pump, no accelerated lift rockers, stock clutch

I did a 150 for two years. Then I got tired of messing with the bottle so much and wanted the power all the time. Best move I made was going to FI. Wished I did it sooner.

If your Car is not a DAILy drive. that conflicts with you wanting the Power allways being there that of a SC or turbo . Then a nitrous Kit.Its Not DD so when you do Drive it Whats so Hard to Push a Button and open up the tank before you take a strole? i am confused. Seems Like you just Have a URGE to find out how it is to own a SC/Turbo Car is all. That is Natural, But think about what you say. when it comes to POWER and DD Good Luck either way you go all 3 Power adders Are SWEET

The P1SC-1 resembles a cut down D1SC so it makes more midrange boost. The boost comes on a bit harder.
