IMO the cam on that car is too big for a SC'd setup running stock bottom end, valve train and displacment. A slightly smaller cam will give better useable powerband and area under the curve. If you really want to use the cam you running now u better be ready to take it above 7k RPM and only then you will see the full potiential of that cam on a 346 cid engine.

Great #'s

The Cam is saving the motor because the tq output is fairly low for the HP.I was looking at some of my graphs with Combo's like your's.The closest we have is 720hp but we have an even 100hp gain over yours at 4500rpm.Tq was at 620. That motor lasted about 6k miles before the rods stretched

Good to know. I'm pricing out a budget bottom end build keeping stock cubes just in case I have the same issues.

Btw I posted the dyno vid so people can hear how the cam and blower sound.

For a budget build, the stock crank can be retained. All you really need are decent rods and pistons. I'd also install head studs while you are there. Bob

Nice numbers. Will be interested to see when more info about your setup is released. Do you know how much timing you are running at peak torque?

Timing was 13-14 degrees I believe. We pulled it back to 10 degrees above 6K just in case.

We set the limit at 650 rwhp to start saving... at that point its just a matter of detonation or bad fuel. Our shop car makes 620ish rwhp on nitrous and we have multiple 575-620 rwhp boosted cars makin that kind of power just fine, and thats on 91 octane! On the same note though, a bad tank of gas on 420 rwhp can do the same damage if not cared for correctly

Why doesn't the torque start dropping off somewhere above 5500-6000? I haven't seen a curve like that before.

Nice #'s!

I think it's because the power never drops off. Since hp is a result of torque, it has to stay at a lvl to create more hp per rpm.
