Budget Turbo
, right now from what ive seen the 6.0l manifold turbo kits seem to be the cheapest to build and prolly the most reliable, only downfall is the loss of a/c. JMHO I made my own truck manifold kit and it was straight foward and not that bad to tackle for a DIY'er.
Search for truck manifold kits and pics will/should come up.

maybe they can help!
my opinion turbo and budget do not go in the same sentence
unless 6k is your budget?
he needs to learn how to weld , interesting hack stuff though

I tend to be a bit of a perfectionist so my build might be a bit "over the top" compared to some but still....I really don't think you can build a RELIABLE turbocharged vehicle on a budget.
There are some pics of a truck manifold set up in that link

Forced induction and the supporting mods required to make a lot of power is what drains the wallet.
S/C'ers are just as expensive. IF you are going to eventually run more boost you will be spending more $$$ on
Driveline upgrades...i.e. Trannies, rearends
Fuel System upgrades, Fuel pumps, fuel lines, fittings, injectors.
Chassis upgrades, Optional here depending on if you take it to the track a lot.
And the big one,
ENGINE UPGRADES, will you pop the stocker...who knows I never did, but I did build up a LS6 block with forged internals to replace my stocker and to run more boost/power.
FI is damn expensive.

But you can add a good intercooler for around 265 which still keeps the price reasonable.
