Default AllPro Head Question

I got my AllPro heads in the other day and overall there A+ head. One question I had was on the combustion chamber. Im putting these on a LS1 (3.905 bore) but the chambers on these heads measure alittle more than 4 inches. Will this work ok or is it going to cause a problem...power lose, detonation, ect. The other problem is with one of the valve guides. On the head where the bronse guide was put in it made a small crack down the guide/Intake runner. He is a picture of it I took with my camera phone sorry its not the best but the arrow shows were its cracked.

well alot of people use the 6.0 heads which have a 4.0" bore and they work fine. just use a 4.0" gaseket, otherwise the edge of the gaskets will hand into the combustion chamber and eventually leak.

I wouldn't accept a cracked head. I'd send it back and tell them you want a new one regardless of what they had to say.

If you got them directly from All Pro, just pick up the phone and call Suzie or Bob. Bob is out this week in FL.

I run 6.0 heads, and will be migrating over to All Pro heads in the next couple of weeks. Probably similar to what you have, except I went with Inconel exhaust valves.

Its not really that bad. I just got of the phone with bob and he said it would be fine but if I wanted it fixed Im sure it wouldnt be a problem. I know when most people port there cylinder heads that part is usually cut down anyway. Anythere question I have is on my head gaskets. My bore is a 3.905 so I bought 3.910 Cometic head gaskets but the heads have a 4.00" opening. Do you think the head gaskets will cause a problem? I hope not because cometic 4.00" gaskets are back ordered for 3 weeks.

yes they will cause a problem the gasket cant hang over into the chamer, i did it on mine and it cause problems with the gasket and leaked.

felpro has mls, also GM has them in a mls 6.0" bore for the 6.0L trucks, id get the Gm ones, they are cheaper and work just as well. hopefully they don thave a wait on them.

Well at least you got the heads now so it's a little closer.

Kinda off topic but you happen to have any pics of the buildup and what kinda exhaust setup are you running from the DP back? I'm wanting to get an idea of how much mine's gonna quiet down once I can finally afford to put the turbo on it.

Hopefully I drop the motor in this weekend but I havent fabbed up the manifolds yet because I need to get the motor in the truck so I know how to make them. The exhaust is pretty much just 3 inch off the turbo run threw a set of FloPros and dumped in front of the rear axle. I sent my turbos back to trade in for a set of Turbonetics 62-1 turbos with .68 a/r t4 p-trim exhaust housings and v-band. I had t3 housings and thought they might be alittle restrictive and decided on the t4 housing instead.

Ahh, ok. Thought you already had the manifolds and all done....just waiting on the new heads to put the motor back in. Well make sure to take plenty of pics, cause by the time I can afford something I may decide to go with twins if the clearance and all is good.

SO did you ever move to NC was it!?! I will make sure to take some pictures of the motor/heads in and out of the truck this weekend. Hopefully I can find a set of 6.0 head gaskets tomorrow.

<-----Yeah, got moved up here last week. As for the pics, just email them to me cause I wanted to see the manifolds when you start fabbing them and how you're gonna run the downpipes. Anyways, sorry for hi jacking the thread on ya.
