Default Going to be one mean STS Car!!

I have been trying to decide which short block to go with, and after talking to Texas speed and perf.. i think im sold on there 402 with the setup custom boost pistons good for 20psi on race gas 15psi to 18psi pump gas Im getting a custom front mount and the charge pipe(return pipe)on the sts is going to be upgraded to a 3 inch the whole way up to the motor!!!also i have upgraded my turbo to a t76mm .96.. this is going to be my daily driver still. Brian form texas told me that on pump gas 650+ on high boost setting!!! Any imput on this setup? anyone using there motor? Yes thats a big turbo for a rear mount but F#ck it, im trying to make some big power and i think that its going to work out awsome

Don.t worry too much about the turbo size. I have the same size turbo on my 370. It is a little "laggier" than the 60-1 I had, but that's actually good for me. The car is gonna be traction limited as it is, with the boost coming in a little later (now at about 3800 rpm), it helps keep the tires planted.

What kind of heads/cam etc?? My setup should hit 650 at around 10-12 psi, so I would think your would be much higher at 20 psi!

more air flow I have talked to a few fast gto owners which have done this and said there are noticable gains. called sts about it and thay said that with the bigger turbo and motor this will help they put a 3 inch on some of there cars as well i was told so we shall see iam going to try them both with the same psi and see what happens

I could see upgrading the last pipe after the MAF, but how do you plan on fitting the 3" from turbo to throttle body. The stock STS pipe, especially with the normal pipe upgrade is very capable of 650+. IMO, it seems like waste to basically remake the whole kit.
We have a car that is making 640 at 7psi with stock STS pipe plus upgrade
(larger air filter pipe and custom IC pipe).

i crushed the return pipe in the back so the guy at the shop told me 3 inch would fit,but if you are telling me its not than it probably wont, you would know you work on these kits alot more than me but i have talked to a gto owner who did and was happy with the results.. By the way how much is your intercooler kit with the upgraded intercooler? I need too order one, i have got to get this car rolling!!

I wish there was. I'm tuning my car myself, and it's taking me forever. I'm doing a 2 bar speed density tune with HP Tuners. I have my VE table pretty close up to 4200 rpm. Just gotta work on the higher rpms, and boost regions. Maybe one of these days we'll actually meet up. It would be cool to see another STS car pushing the limits.

We are currently working on another FMIC setup on an LS1, and should have the pics up soon and dyno after we tune and install a clutch and valve springs. I see the stock 2.25 working fine to the FMIC, but after that 3" where possible to the TB. We have several other STS cars around down here in S.FLA and should find a night for all of us to hit up Moroso.

Yeah, that's speed density (no maf). What would they charge you? It really is the best way, but it takes time. If you had a pro do it, I would still think it would take 2 full days, 8 hours a day. And they would be driving your car...A LOT.

I'm not 100% sure, but it could be 2 reasons not to do it on a dyno. First, it doesn't load the motor like driving on the street. And second, cost. If a dyno costs you $75/hour (conservative), and you need say 10 hours (really conservative), that's $750, not to mention paying someone to tune it. Besides, I'd much rather have the capability of altering my tune as the temps change. Like today is in the 50's, tomorrow in the 80's. Your afr is going to be effected by those changes.

Guys, let me know if you need any assistance. I have done several SD tunes. It does require some hours of street time through all gears. IMO it would be a waste to try doing it on a dyno. I use the enhanced data cable from HP Tuners which allows me to tap into the wideband on the car and log full histogram, using avg values. Yes, the car must have a wideband with voltage output in order for this to be accomplished.
