Default what size piping do it need

I am putting a turbo 2000 z28 it is a pt76, i was wondering what size piping i should use? i was assuming i would use 3 inch but a buddy mentioned i might want to go with 2.5" what would you ugys suggest? and also how think or what guage should the piping be? most people seem to use stainless or mild steel...are there any other matierials people use?

and on a side note...what size BOV and wastegate? it will be seeing around 7-10 psi for a bit so i need a wastegate that wont have trouble with that

I am using 2.5 inch pipes from the manifolds to the T88 turbo (6.0L manifold setup) and am going to use 3 or 4 inch pipe for the down pipe.

as far as the waste gate and blow off valve go, i would suggest Tial 40mm WG and 50mm BOV.

JMO...

What rpm, what size engine...etc. Piping size is another parameter that is overlooked quite often. Typically the rule of thumb is you don't want to exceed 275ft/sec on velocity.

currently the motor is a stock ls1 that will be getting rebuilt....or a new bigger motor is going in(thats over a year away though) so i would want the piping to work best with a stock cube motor running about 7k rpms at redline...around 6400-6600 shifting rpm

Doing piping any bigger than your turbo compressor outlet doesn't buy you much of anything - it just adds volume to your system that you will have to compress before you see boost. On the downpipe, there can be a benefit to stepping up the pipe size once or twice.

Are you going to run an open downpipe or a full exhaust?

true dual exhaust will be a waste and probably flow less then a good 3.5" pipe cause of the neck down in the split. a 3.5" downpipe would be good cause i think thats what comes off of the T76gts. the compressor outlet is a 3" so 3" intake tubing would be good.
for your up-pipes a 2.5" pipe would be good also that can take alot of power and will probably be the right size for your application.

i have 2.5" pipes merging right before the turbo, then a 4" downpipe for my pt88. a 3" intake pipe going into my 3" inlet of my ic, then using a 3-3.5" transition to my maf, then a 3.5-4" transition to my throttle body. once i rid my MAF i will do a 3" inlet to my IC with a 4" outlet using 4" pipe to my TB.
