Default 4" OBX FMIC Or Snow Alky kit

Ok so here is the situation..... My car dyno'd 548rwhp on a Dyno jet running around 8psi. Now after installing the SDCE setup we took it to 11psi and the car dyno'd around 530rwhp on a Mustang Dyno(Dyno jet shop is closed). The numbers don't make sense to me at all. Hell even if we said that Mustang Dyno will put around 5-7% lower numbers that is still low for 11psi. We did a compression test and all banks show well. We are running 13 degrees of timing with 11psi compared to 19 degrees on the 8psi run.

So now im thinking it could be the stock ATI intercoolers not allowing us to run more timing on pump gas.

So my question is which would u pick...

1. 4" OBX FMIC which would be a 30-40F cooler than the stock ATI Twins.

OR

2. Keep the stock intercoolers and run Snow Stage 2 Alky injection pushing alky/water from 4psi to 11psi.

If u have any ideas about the dyno numbers feel free to comment.

Thanks.

I voted for the FMIC, however I do say that your numbers on a Mustang dyno look very good. Last but not least when I switched to the FMIC I picked up 2 pounds of boost. So count on those extra pounds coming your way.

FMIC - used all the time

injection - is it filled...is it working...spraying enough...etc...etc

FMIC obviously choice because of the above reasons.

I believed that Alky would allow me to run more timing than a FMIC. Also the Alky would cool down the IAT of the twins.

alky. I have the little incon intercoolers maxed out.....took them off...sprayed more alky and ran the same times...both on 93 octane. I say leave the intercoolers...add alky and crank up the timing and see if some power comes back

I agree with jerry run the meth.........you have intercoolers.........they may just be a restriction because of their size now becuase you maxed them out. Trust good ol cablebandit below he's done the combos every way possible. Meth will prevent detonation and allow you to run more timing. Granted your not really running that much boost or timing which is also depending on your CR.

I'm maxing my Twin Intercoolers myselfv.. Went with a Snow Meth injection kit and It's allowing me to time up alot.

The benefits of Meth are undeniable... However, I'd only run it IN ADDITION to an efficient (NOT the twin high-flows) intercooling system when running any boost over 7#

An intercooler won't run out of juice... you might slam into a pole, but then you'd know it was fucked up and would take it easy driving back home...

an intercooler doesn't add octane or fuel....so get both.....works for me

Im leaning towards alky for more than one reason: (Feel free to comment)

1. Im running 11psi on stock motor so i really dont need more boost or air flow. (Having a better intercooler sometimes means more boost which i dont need right now)

2. I need to add timing because 13 degrees of timing is low IMO. (Im going to try to run race gas and see how my car likes timing before getting the Snow kit). Im sure running 19 degrees of timing would yield more power than a FMIC.

3. Alky would help cool down the air charge slightly which would aid the intercoolers. It will also increase the octane level which make more sense on this setup.

4. Alky would be activated over 4psi until 11psi so I think it will last forever since i dont drive WOT alot with this much power anyways.

5. Alky kit cost $400 compared to FMIC kit for $700-1000 or so.

I agree with most of the guys that a FMIC is needed when pushing above 8-9psi, but since im not planning to max out the blower just yet on the stock engine... It make more sense to add the FMIC with the 9.1 C/R 396 forged bottom end and a better valve to use every last drop of boost i can get.

What do u think guys?

Car just picked up 50rwhp with 4 more degrees of timing on a 104 fuel, but we are having some fuel pressure problems(FP drops to 40psi) to continue to 7K. I guess it likes timing. Snow alky system looks more appealing now, but i need to address the fuel system now.
