What could it be? Pics inside
I recently purchased a Phamspeed budget kit (hot parts) with Hooker super comp shorties from a member on this board. Everything looks great except that the pass side header airtube was cracked during shipping (no big deal). The actual phamspeed parts look like new. I don't know if they were ever installed or not. As you can see in the pics something is way off. The passenger side looks way too forward and bent down to me. I don't see any damage at all anywhere. I have seen shorties that didn't have the radical bend by the flange on the passenger side they were more straight like the drivers side. Kind of like these in the FS section https://ls1tech.com/forums/showthrea...hlight=ceramic
Do some of the Phamspeed kits require specific shorty headers?

if it was never used could be a cheap remake and somebody f'd up on the jiging, that looks waay off... but the shorty headers do line up w/the factory pipes, so its got to be the up pipe w/some wrong bends somewhere...

Notice how the passenger side collector flange starts well behind the last cylinder and kinda points towards the last exhaust port on my headers.
Now look at these headers. Notice how the passenger side collector flange starts directly under the last cylinder and points at the 3rd exhaust port.

The difference on the Edelbrock headers is for the different years. The 98-99s had the extra pipe and different passager flange so they could eliminate the small pre-catalytic converter on those cars. In 2000, the cats moved to right after the manifolds so that pipe wasnt needed. So if you phamspeed kit was make for a 00+ manifold, you need 00+ headers. This goes regardless of header brand too as the flanges are in different locations for the different years.

This also really helps explain it.
