Default Adapting a Procharger Kit

I bought a F1-R Procharger kit that was originally made for a Corvette. Am I going to have any problem installing it on my F-body? I know the head unit is mount on the upper passenger side of the engine and I may have to remove or re-route some A/C components. I am trying to avoid taking the A/C out.

I have put a vortech corvette kit on a 01 TA and it was a PITA. If I did it again I would use a vette ballancer and AC bracket. On this car we spaced the brackets out off the block. Had to cut the core support and abunch of other mods to make it work. At first he still had the AC but ended up removing it for more room.

Looking at Vortech's website, the supercharger mounts on the driver's side of the engine. The Procharger Kit mounts it on the passenger side. The more I look at my engine bay, the more I think I will have to remove the A/C. Is there anyone else that has done something like this?

So you're wanting to drive the supercharger with the 6 rib accessory belt? An F1-R?

No, I plan on upgrade to atleast a 8-rib setup from SD-Concepts. I have a friend of mine call them about brackets too, but if that fails I would like to know if I can mount it with the existing bracket.

The Corvette kit uses the accessory belt to drive the blower as well. The LS1 f-body kit has a dedicated crank pulley to drive the supercharger. Any aftermarket parts you would purchase for the f-body would be designed around a dedicated drive pulley on the crank. In other words the Vette bracket has the supercharger in the wrong spot for the f-body.

I"m going to be trying kind of the opposite of you. I'm gonna try to adapt an F-body Powerdyne to my C5 It looks like I"m going to have to fabricate my own bracket from scratch.

You guys are in for a lot of hassles, no way would I want to try to adapt one either way, too much trouble and by the time you are done, it is going to be expensive. Bob

OK, what about a new bracket and pulley system?

I would suggest call Bob with these ATI part numbers and he can get back to you with pricing.

Main bracket bag assembly - parts to mount the head unit itself 3GJBB-001
Crank pulley 6rib for use with stock balancer DC017A-006

These are just the absolute basics.

Where would this mount the head unit? Like the P1SC and D1SC kits, or another location?

I have seen others install a F1 or F1R in the same location and there wasn't enough room for an air filter or even a pipe. I am about two steps from selling this system and going with something else.

Well I think you may be mistaken. The F1 is the same diameter of the P1SC and D1SC superchargers and is only about .400 deeper (less than half an inch).

The F1R is only 3/4 of an inch larger in diameter, but does have a 1/4" larger diameter inlet so that plumbing may be tougher to route with the larger pipe.

Maybe you should sell what you have and get an actual kit for your application if you're this frustrated in the project already.

Nitrous is an easy install.

edit: The core support will need to be modified to install the F1R and be able to put a filter on it. Some run a narrower radiator to give the installation more room. But of course we're talking a race blower so this should be expected.

I had nitrous. I was sick of my bottle only lasting a few runs. I thought about a turbo, but my static compression is alittle high at 9.25:1. I have asked for help from other F1R owners for installation, but no one has answered. I already have my 402, so I don't need low end torque. That is why I bought this F1R kit with an air-to-water IC, ice tank, lines and pump. I didn't realize I was going to have this much trouble installing it. And a D1SC will not be large enough to support a 402. And if I had a buyer lined up I would get something else.

Try this for at least a look of what's been done. Not a ton of detail, but something.

I had talked with Bryan. I believe he was the one who told me i had to cut and re-weld the lower radiator support to make clearance. That is something I am trying to avoid. I think this is a pic from him.
