Default Forced induction engine and internal choices?

I am thinking hard on getting a turbo kit very shortly.

I would run my stock engine for now but build up a second one I think.

What advantage is there to the 6.0 iron block? It seems very popular.
How much heavier is it and its the weight noticeable much? What negatives to the 6.0 iron block. What is the part number and how much roughly is it?

Does the standard ls1 crank fit the 6.0?
Is it necessary to upgrade the ls1 crank and at what hp level?

All ls1 parts are interchangeable with the 6.0 iron block?

Do I need special 6.0 pistons ls1 would not work being too small ?

What pistons are good that will give minimal slapping when cold or warm..wiseco,ross,diamond?What part numbers to go with some lq9 likely patriot perf heads?

Also what is good valve sizes in patriot heads for 346 or 6.0 engines..2.055 intake? or the 2.02?

What is better to get..arp head studs or bolts? Can arp head studs be installed with motor in the car?

What about arp main studs or bolts are they necessary?

What about gaskets.. I think read the stock gaskets are fine or were they special stock mls head gaskets?

I have some experience with turbo motors in my dsm cars.I am going to be running crower rods, wiseco pistons, arp head studs and rod bolts in that car.Engine is being finished up this week.

Good questions.

I want to know all those as well, as I would like to know all of that before I start gathering parts for the build.

Let's hear it, turbo experts!

Ill shoot for what I can help with.

Stock gaskets will work fine.. thats what Im using, they work the best

Studs or bolts will keep the heads down and prevent lifting at higher hp levels
Studs work better and I believe they can be done with the motor in the car.. Studs are also more expensive also

For heads.. I wouldnt worry about valve size..

Id talk to some of our sponsers about what kinds of piston, rings, etc and see what they reccommend...

For Blocks.. the iron block only disadvantage is weights..

When i was getting a quote from Sdpc he told me 400lbs...They arent expensive.. look in the for sale section or on ebay.. i had a 6.0 block with heads and crank that I bought for $600

ls1 parts should be interchangable on the 6.0

Is it worth the extra $500 cost for an LS2 aluminum 6.0L block vs the 6.0L iron block???

The weight difference is about 90 lbs. F-bodies are kind of heavy anyway, so what's another 90 for a quarter-miler?

definitely what he advised, but try cometic or white seal corteco gaskets, for th e pressure buildup, and always go ARP bolts/studs...good luck man!

Uhh.. aluminum is just going to save weight... depending on your hp level... if you plan on running anything over 1k hp... go with iron..

otherwise aluminum will be fine... Didnt SmokinHawk run over 1k hp in a aluminum block?
