I saw you run a 6 speed. That will be very tough to do with the stock bottom. This place can be a little "clicky" at times. Generally people respond better to more specific posts. It's good to see another southwest Ohio car. Try to catch up with the "Ohio boys" or at this time I should say "boy" and you could learn plenty. Me and BLWNTA are currently building an 8 sec. strip car that is slowly progressing. We should be out with it next spring. FWIW, Mike Brown aka "Ohio Boy" ran into the 9's with the stock block and an Incon kit. He had a TH400 with a transbrake though.

well for stock bottom end your going to be limited to safely about 500 ish rwhp with the M6. You can get there with a procharger or a turbo. However, i forgot but launching an M6 on a turbo, i think it was, is pretty tough. There are many good kits out there for stock bottom end. For Supercharger, it seems everyone like the D1SC procharger kit, For turbo, GMR has a nice single kit and a sweet twin kit if you have higher goals for the future, Hi-Flo looks promising with there non-log set up which could be a better set up if you plan to upgrade later as you wont be limited by a log set up. Also the TTi street set up is always nice but is a log set up so you may get limited there as well. The TTi Race kit is actually the kit you want to go with if its strictly a race car AND you have plans to upgrade the motor later as it can produce monster numbers. Hope this helps. IMO i like turbos better and it seems as if there are more choices going that route, but if you like the supercharger more, there is nothing wrong with a procharger and it will net you the results your looking for! Hope this helps

Our log setup is not going to hold anything back, I dont understand what you mean?? It sure hasent yet AGAIN, the BASE single kit is made for and reccommended for a stock bottom end for an easyhigh horsepower bolt on, though it can be used for more with proper modification.

Thanks,
Leo

Hey leo, sorry to get off track here but i was under the impression that log set ups restrict exhaust and limit rwhp to about 500 ish. What "modifications" would be needed to see 650-750 rwhp out of the single set up for forged block? Hvae you done this yet?

I really like GMR's price and set up looks nice, if Leo means what he says and you can push more out of the system.... go for that one and i will most likely as well!

Although a log setup might not be absolutely ideal for a max effort race setup, it's not a deal breaker and won't necessarily choke you at say 500rwhp. If you're looking at building a street car I would consider it, especially if the price is right. I would just see what the GMR kit is putting down and go from there.

Yea, GMR kit looks very promising, just curious what needs to be as "modification" to handle 650-750 rwhp, if it can. myblackss- Def check into the GMR kit for stock bottom end, you wont find a better deal than that if your on a budget. STS is about the same price as well and nearly same results but its a rear mount set up. Procharger seems to be a little more expensive, few hundred more but since your M6 for the track, may want to consider that for an easier launch, all u pto you but those are the 3 best budget set ups out right now i think.

Did you want a custom kit??? Budget kit... Its everything else thats needed to go fast that adds up really fast...... and always have some $$$ set aside for a forged motor for when the stocker goes... it will sooner or later.

If i remember right there was an older log style kit, that had a problem with high heat and cracking. Thats why alot of people are on the edge right now about the GMR kit.

Its the way you asked the question, it almost sounds like your trolling and or trying to create trouble.

One thing that would really help when asking something like that is providing more details as to what your REALISTIC goals are and what kind of a buget you have.

yes ive got a 6 speed 99 ss thats my street car now which i plan to keep and is only days away from completion having a baby and dont want to cage her so its staying a street ingorged nitrous **** that should be in the mid 10 second range...but since it wont be track legal at tri state or edgewater or pretty much any ware without a cage ill be building a full race car for my racing fix it will be a complete replica of my 99 but mini tubed narowed rear with 10.5 slicks wild turbo motor/or supercharged striped and 12 point cage want to either run built 6 speed or a linco this build will take at least 2 years but im hoping for 9s with the first motor and 8s with the next

Tri-State will let you at least test & tune without a bar or cage. They never say anything. Edgewater on the other hand will have a problem.
