LS1+Boost=Boom?
Hey guys I had a few questions about running boost on a lsx motor, I currently have a Ford R302 based motor that I have not yet run and I may be picking up a 98 T/A soon so I had a few questions about building a boosted lsx motor for it. Back when I had my ls1 there were alot of issues with boosting a lsx motor, I used to hear of head lifting all of the time and such. I was curious if I wanted to build a 1000rwhp motor what would I need to run to keep it reliable, I was thinking iron block, forged internals, afr or dart heads (thicker deck should help hold the headgaskets) I am not sure what to do about head studs, what size are stock ls1 headsuds, should the block be tapped for a larger stud to help keep the head down? I am using Parish's truck as a major reference, as far as I know his truck has been extremely reliable making 1000rwhp but I am not sure what his combo is. If I cant come up with something that will hold maybe i'll just drop my r302 motor in it *gasps*. Anyways I searched and couldnt find alot of info if it's out there let me know.

stock ls1's have head bolts not studs. studs will def. keep the heads on. you should not have a problem if you lower the compression. alot of guys put on the 317 castings and have them ported and polished with bigger valves.good luck

From memory, parish's truck is a W2W motor. I think he ran 23psi and got 1000hp. If your looking for 1000+ theres no better place than W2W for a shortblock.
personally, id do the 1/2in studs for safety, although im not sure if he is.
He's also runing MS for Fuel and the Tranny is a 4l80e.
Parish is completely redoing his turbo setup right now. Hes gonna run twin 70's, i think.
