hey guys, just curious, does anyone know like say 10# of boost compared to like a 200 shot of spray, how much cylinder pressure spray compared to boost
thanks
This is a little difficult to explain without writing a geek novel but there are a few things to keep in mind about this subject that may help you in your research. First, boost is relative meaning that 10# of boost on say a TE-60 (Turbo) is not going to be the same as 10# of boost on a PT-78 (Turbo) or a D1SC (Supercharger) in that they all max out at different CFM. The meat of your question is in the last part where you touch on the cylinder pressure. I am not sure this has been measured or how exactly one would measure the two without a heap of work. Nitrous curves can be manipulated through such items as camshaft, progressive kits and line size so as not to "fall off" as early as a turbo. With nitrous it is about flow and the volumetric efficiency of the motor. Turbos and blowers tend to be a little more forgiving regarding this area. The two also make their prospective power in slightly different areas of the compression stroke. So the long and the short is that there is not really a way to answer this question without actually comparing similar motors with one using a turbo and the other N2O. Then it would still be hypothetical at best. I would say on an LS1 that a 200 shot of N2O would be similar to 10-12 LBS on a TE-63-1 but this is only a guess.
