Default speed inc shortblock for boost

I finally got my turbo kit after a long wait and a tour in Iraq... I am now contemplating purchasing the 348ci shortblock from speedinc and am shooting for 8.5:1cr...I was just wanting to see if anyone else has this shortblock and if they like it...If you could include your specs that would be helpful also...times, horsepower and any other info would also be greatly appreciated...

I have a custom turbo kit that has stainless steel turbo headers, v-band connectors, PTE88 turbo, tial wastegate, gmpp intake, custom intake elbow, 105mm accufab tb, 96lb injectors...Thanks man, it feels so good to be back in the states...Oh, also I have a pretty large Griffin FMIC...

with 346 cubes youll need to spin your engine to around 7500rpm to make a real good power band to take full advantage of that turbo.
now with something like a 370 you might only have to spin it to 6800
that being said im only planning to spin my PT88 fed, 347 cubed, hyd roller to 7000rpm's as im not sure about spinning a hydrolic roller past 7k.
im planning later to up my cubes to 370-383 and taking the revs down to 6500-6800
not sure ill make 1000rwhp with my 346, but i hope to when i get a larger engine.

coarse on this stuff i havent done any real world testing yet, just read similar maps (as they dont have maps for the PT88) and estimated on what it will be.

i stole this from a mod in another thread hope it helps you

I want to go 370ci but with an iron block and the added weight from the turbo this thing is going to be a brick up front...I guess it wouldn't really matter much with the extra weight though...How much do you think that I could lighten up the front with a tubular k-member and tubular upper and lower a arms...I'm obviously taking out the ac and stuff too so I'm figuring that I may be able to make it about even if I do this compared to an aluminum block and doing no lightening to it...Then the only added weight is from the turbo...Are you going with an iron block ssilver?? Thanks for the input...

ive heard your not supposed to drive everyday on a tubular kmember...so it depends on what your gonna use the car mainly for.. ie daily driver, track only, etc. you could do aluminum instead of iron or do the iron and the weight savings..but ike i said its all up to you..even if its a brick its ok cause your gonna have the power to lift it if you want...

Word...=) we're on the same page here...I'm kinda leaning toward the iron though just because of the block integrity and rigidity of it...I mean I've lightened the car quite a bit thus far and I don't really foresee doing any road racing so as long as I could transfer the weight to the rear it's all good...If I were to go with an LS2 block do you know if they accept the same sensors and covers as the LS1?? that way I could have an aluminum block plus the cubes to spool the turbo...

i wanna say they do...dont quote me on that though...iron would be my choice for the same reasons as you...but the LS2 is alot stronger than ppl think...i know a guy putting down 7xxhp/7xxtq with an LS2 and blower....hopefully your numbers will be higher than that

I'm shooting for a conservative amount on race gas...I'm hoping for over 800rwhp with some good fuel...If I get a little more then that will be nice but that's the number that I'm shooting for...I'll try to call them tomorrow and see if they offer a LS2 option...That would be nice..=)

I would go iron considering the power levels you are shooting for.

370 if on a budget, 402-408 if not The T88 will love the 402-408 combo

But I went with a 402 from SLP BACK OFF DAMMIT!!! But I had my uncle change the internals and do some work on the block punch it up to a 422. For the longest I thought I had a 427 but I finally read the spec sheet closer and found out it was not FyI the motor was an Iron block and never ran it in the car so this is by no means a SLP bash The block look great and everything check out. I just got greedy with power Oh as far as weight I could not tell a differnce in handeling but my front did sit a tad lower good luck

I'm lowered also so this may be part of the consideration too...I'm pretty sure that iron is the way to go though...
