The drive is pretty cool. When you floor it at low engine speeds the boost starts to rise, as it hits about 11psi it drops back to about 6 (4000rpm+-)and re starts climbing up to about 10psi at redline.

werd.....wouldnt you want full boost throughout the RPM range? Instead of having to "gain back" boost again?

There's little new under the sun. The McCulloch centrifugal supercharger had a variable drive pulley (like a snowmobile) in the early fifties, and later a variable ratio planetary ball drive. It allowed good low RPM boost without overboosting at high RPM: http://www.paxtonauto.com/history.html

Speeding the sc up in the mid range gives more power under the curve making the car more powerful to drive. It is the only 2 speed sc drive coming on the market for current sc(Rotrex).

heh, this just made me think of my little RC cars 2speed transmission..

really, it wouldnt be too hard to have a centrifigually activated locking clutch switch between two blower ratios..... heh, it woudl be large and take some work to build, but it wouldnt be very complex....hmmmm.

That makes sense to me.

10 lbs at 4000rpm would translate to 20 lbs at 8000rpm(i know you guys dont get that high, but still.) People want to keep the boost pressure the same just about throughout the whole rpm range and being a s/c it is run off the engine speed, which means it'll do more when the engine goes faster. Explains the 2ness of it. 1 for low and 1 for high to keep it around 10 or so as mentioned above.
