My thoughts about meth injection
If you're running more timing to take advantage of the lower IAT and increased octane of an undiluted methanol spray, then there is a risk of going lean and consequent damage if the meth system fails. If the vehicle has been tuned with methanol, then it is likely that fuel has been removed to prevent going too rich as the alcohol is sprayed, so you're gonna be quite lean. If you have stock internals, maybe this is where they fail. On a forged motor, you might have more of a safety margin? Might depend if you are also running an effective intercooling setup, as far as the consequences of your lean condition.
If the car was tuned to run a safe WOT A/F on its own, and THEN a more modest spray of methanol was added, then I think it would be quite safe to use. That setup would not be taking full advantage of the methanol, however.
Perhaps the "middle of the road" solution is to be somewhere between the above setups; the car could be tuned without methanol so that it would go only "mildly" lean if the system failed... methanol spray could then be added to desired A/F while removing some of the fuel... and timing changes to take advantage of the methanol would be conservative.
Obviously, one thing that would help with any of these setups is to have a dependable indicator of successful spray... tracking IAT's live would be one way to go. But ideally you'd like to have a big frickin' red light that comes on if your system craps out and stops delivering the alcohol... and letting you know to get out of the throttle ASAP.

Meth kit straight out of the box setting from STS is set to kick on at @4psi. We wire it to the injector so it pulse sprays with the injectors sequence. 2 jets are included, M10 & M15. Typically the M10 will be more than enough for the LS1 and up to 550rwhp. The meth system is adjustable, meaning there are provisions in the wiring system to reset it, to kick on at a higher or lower psi setting. Tuneable meaning you can change the jets for morexor less flowxand tune your vehicle on the dyno with Meth.

Hope that helps
